Newman
If the real NBA won't have a 2011-12 season, I am not going to buy this and instead play 2k11 on PC and play the 1996-97 mod.
htownborn
I love the fact that their putting Hakeem in the game along with Wilt, Bill, and West but I still don't understand how they have Malone and Stockton with Ewing and not have Barkley in the game. htownborn
More info I found 2K Sports today revealed to ESPN the full roster of 15 NBA all-time superstars gracing its "NBA's Greatest" mode but, like the supporting cast in last year's "Jordan Challenge," diehard basketball fans will find just as many memories in the cast of teammates and opposing teams. First, the list of legends. Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Julius Erving were confirmed for the game a couple weeks ago. They will be joined by Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Isiah Thomas, Hakeem Olajuwon, Patrick Ewing, Scottie Pippen, John Stockton and Karl Malone. "NBA's Greatest" will pit gamers, playing as the legend's team, against another team from that same year. The games will not necessarily be historic recreations of specific moments, like last year's "Jordan Challenge." Winning the game unlocks both teams for use throughout all the rest of NBA 2K12's modes. The matchups: 1964-65 Boston Celtics (Russell) vs. Los Angeles Lakers 1970-71 Milwaukee Bucks (Robertson) vs. Lakers 1970-71 Lakers (West) vs. Atlanta Hawks 1971-72 Lakers (Chamberlain) vs. Knicks 1984-1985 Philadelphia 76ers (Erving) vs. Bucks 1985-86 Celtics (Bird) vs. Hawks 1986-87 Lakers (Kareem) vs. Celtics 1988-1989 Detroit Pistons (Thomas) vs. Bulls 1990-91 Lakers (Johnson) vs. Portland Trail Blazers 1992-1993 Bulls (Jordan) vs. Charlotte Hornets 1993-1994 Houston Rockets (Olajuwon) vs. Denver Nuggets 1994-1995 Knicks (Ewing) vs. Orlando Magic 1995-1996 Bulls (Pippen) vs. Seattle Supersonics 1997-1998 Utah Jazz (Stockton) vs. Lakers 1997-1998 Jazz (Malone) vs. San Antonio Spurs. Astute fans will note there are some top-50 players on the opposing teams, such as Clyde Drexler (who appeared in NBA 2K11). Shaquille O'Neal back with the Orlando Magic, and Elgin Baylor with the Lakers. There are also some jaw-dropping nostalgic choices—Pete Maravich on the 1970-1971 Hawks, for example. The 1971-1972 New York Knicks of Willis Reed, Walt "Clyde" Frazier, Bill Bradley, Dave DeBusschere and Earl "The Pearl" Monroe will be worth the $59.99 to many Knick fans. ESPN has an interview with series producer Erick Boenisch talking about the choices of players and matchups and how they were made. If you are at all a fan of basketball, go read it, it will fire you right the hell up.- This just keeps getting better so we can play with the Hornets with Zo and LJ, the Nuggets with Mutombo and Mahmoud, The Magic with Shaq and Penny, the Lakers with Shaq, Kobe, Van Exel, and Jones, and the Spurs with a young Timmy and David Robinson. It just sucks they didn't put the 92-93 Suns or one of the Pacers teams form 94 or 95 and alot of the challenges seem kind of weird but other than that I'm satisfied with what they have. kingfish
They have the early 2000's Shaq and Kobe teams? They had the Kings teams, so im not sure why they wouldnt.
htownborn
They have the early 2000's Shaq and Kobe teams? Not that I know of if they do you may have to download them. But if they don't you can just make them, you already have Shaq, Kobe, Fisher, Horry, and Fox from the 97-98 team, Brian Shaw should be with 94-95 Orlando team and George should still be a free agent on the game. Depending on which Laker team your doing Ron Harper, Horace Grant, A.C. Green and possibly Salley will still be on the game. Owner Real Deal Posted September 6, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted September 6, 2011 I'm still pissed that Barkley and the 1993 Suns aren't in it, and they also left out the Kobe/Shaq dynasty team (why the hell do you put in an earlier squad, anyway?)...but, aside from that, sounds like fun. htownborn
Unlike the NFL Lockout, where EA Sports had rights to rookies for Madden NFL 12 regardless of whether there would be a season or not, the NBA lockout will cost its league licensed video game from introducing the incoming rookies. NBA 2K12 will not include any of the rookies drafted in June – as confirmed through a blog posting at Operation Sports from a long-time member who attended a PR event for the game yesterday. The plan would be to add the rookies through a roster update – but that could only be done once the lockout is lifted and at this point that seems unlikely to happen anytime soon. In the meantime players like #1 pick Kyrie Irving, #2 pick Derrick Williams, Kemba Walker, Jimmer Fredette and all those chosen in the 2011 NBA Draft will be absent from NBA 2K12. It’s an unfortunate situation and presents yet another reason why the company decided to put so much of their resources into the “legends” and historic teams. Those will transcend the current NBA – which now will not just be using rosters based on the end of last year but won’t even have the rookies to look forward to.http://www.pastapadre.com/2011/09/07/nba-2k12-will-not-include-rookies

htownborn
The gameplay looks much smoother than last year's and I don't understand why so many people are mad over no rookies this year. Honestly I expected that and no rookies have officially signed their NBA contracts yet so it makes sense as to why they put all of these classic teams in this year. And didn't alot of people agree that this was a very weak draft class this year I mean I can understand if they had left last years draft class out of 2k11 but honestly the only rookies I would look forward to play with on 2k12 are Irving, Williams, Kemba, Jimmer, and Knight the rest I could really careless about maybe other than the Morris twins, Kanter, Biyombo, and Vesely other than that I would much rather play with the classic teams. With or without rookies this game will be good and if the lockout ends then we can download the rookies so it isn't a total lost just be patient we have the classic teams to hold us down until that time. The movements on the court look a little more realistic... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTPBCWheCXoThat post defense (the double team on Griffin) at around 1:45 is a bad thing. I like the player movements better, how the PG pushes the ball up the floor in front of him, how Blake grabbed the rim and how it snaps back into place when he lets go, minor things like that. Also, I love how you can roll the ball in and allow it to find its way down the court, keeping time on the clock. That's sick.
