Half of 2014 World Cup stadiums a concern

SÃO PAULO — Football's world governing body FIFA believes that six of 12 Brazilian stadiums that are to host the 2014 World Cup may not be ready in time, the daily "Folha de São Paulo" reported Tuesday. The paper cited a study by a FIFA consultant on the stadium construction or renovation program pointing to various degrees "of risk" for arenas in Manaus, Cuiabá, Porto Alegre, Curitiba and São Paulo. But the biggest concern is for the stadium in the northeastern city of Natal because of a "tight schedule" that left no "margin for problems", it added.

Manaus and Cuiabá have "medium risk" while Curitiba and Porto Alegre have "low risk", with a greater chance of being ready in time. The report indicated that two years before the World Cup gets underway, work on the 12 stadiums have progressed on average by 34.4 %.

Samuel Eto'o wants outta Russia, and Anelka is bitching about Shenhua looking to sign an actual manager.

Drogba may end up in France, as they're willing to open up the purse big time, and they gon' be a Champions League team. Plus, Drogba and Carlo Ancelloti got along a'ight. Don't think the GaLAxY fits in his plans... Just my .02

Drogba scores as Ivory Coast beat Tanzania 2-0

Didier Drogba was again among the goals as the Ivory Coast led a list of former finalists in a winning start to World Cup qualification but new African champions Zambia lost their opening game on the road to Brazil. There was also a setback for Morocco, whose coach Eric Gerets' job is now under severe threat after a 1-1 draw away at lowly-ranked Gambia.

Drogba and his former Chelsea teammate Salomon Kalou scored for the Ivory Coast as they beat Tanzania 2-0 at home less than a week after changing their coach. It was the first game for the pair since the Champions League final against Bayern Munich on May 19 and a winning debut for new Ivorian coach Sabir Lamouchi, whose surprise appointment on Monday had been widely criticised.

Algeria, Cameroon, Senegal and Tunisia also triumphed on Saturday as 11 matches were played at the start of the group phase. It followed two matches on Friday and there will be seven more on Sunday.

TAHITI ENSURES PLACE IN THE 2013 CONFEDERATIONS CUP

With 20 goals in five games and victories in all their matches, the Tahiti national side won the Oceania Nations Cup

New Zealand somehow couldn't manage to beat several tiny island nations, Tahiti won the OFC Nations Cup by beating New Caledonia 2-0 to book their place in Brazil.

And don't count this bunch out for a return trip to Brazil in 2014! They now join Brazil (obviously), Uruguay, Japan, Spain, and Mexico. Now we just need the Euro 2012 and African Cup of Nations winners.

Drogba will be in Madrid or Milan (Inter) next season. Bank on it.

Not so fast, my friend!

Yesterday Drogba signed a two-and-a-half year deal with Shanghai Shenhua and will reportedly make £200,000 a week. That's $253,421.20 USD!

Looks like Inter Milan is set to release Diego Forlan.

I really fell in love with Forlan after he rejuvenated himself in the 2010 World Cup. It really was a great story and even more entertaining to watch.

Haven't heard anything in regards to where he intends on going though.
