Owner Real Deal Posted August 15, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted August 15, 2011 I've always felt like Roy Jones Jr. could've been known as the greatest boxer of all-time if he took things a little more seriously, and if he actually wasn't afraid of taking a few punches. I mean, he went his first 50 fights being sent to the mat just ONCE, and he even went a full round without being hit (who does that?), and I can still make an argument that he's up there with the greatest, but I can't come out and say he's the clear-cut GOAT. I remember that DQ he had against Griffin. I was so pissed. Then, he came back in the rematch and rocked his boat. Beast. He never recovered from that loss against Tarver, though...and the weight and muscle loss he had going from heavyweight to lightweight probably messed him up a bit, as well as him focusing more on his rap career. I also recorded a lot of his fights (old and current...current at that time) when they would air them later on over on HBO. I remember Coffeyville freaking out because Buster knocked Tyson out. I was around seven when he did it, and my gym teacher was happy as hell, and Tyson was my dude. I didn't realize Buster played basketball for us. The son of professional boxer William "Dynamite" Douglas, Douglas grew up in Columbus, Ohio, in the predominantly black Linden-area neighborhood, Windsor Terrace. He attended Linden McKinley High School where he played football and basketball, even leading Linden to a Class AAA state basketball championship in 1977. After high school, Douglas played basketball for the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens in Coffeyville, Kansas from 1977-1978 where the seventeen year old was a 6 feet 0 inch Power forward. He is in the Coffeyville Red Ravens Men's Basketball Hall of Fame.Still didn't want him to win that fight, doesn't matter where he came from. Tyson was amazing.
