Obviously Spain are the favourites but in a tournament like this the best team doesn't always end up winning the tournament and there are some other talented teams in the field like Lithuania, Serbia and France. Ultimately I don't see much problem for Spain, though. Pau and Marc Gasol, Juan Carlos Navarro, Rudy Fernandez, Ricky Rubio, Jose Calderon and Serge Ibaka is just too much talent and too much depth compared to most teams here. I won't say it will be a cake walk, but I don't forsee too many problems for them in this tournament.
ChosenOne
I agree I think Spain will take it but in no way will it be a cake walk, we have seen in past years international play is highly unpreditable. I am curious to see Pau, Marc, and Serge play along side each other, it should be fun to watch.
andreusito
Well, Pau, Marc and Navarro were the only players who played very well. It was a close game when it shouldn't have been, but it's not bad for a first game. Spain always is slow getting into competition rythm, as we've lost our first match in the last two big tournaments. Sħãlïq™
Damn, no luck for team GBR - they get Lithuania, Turkey and Spain in their first 3 games.
YugoRocketsFan
Serbia beats Italy who has Gallinari, Belinelli and Bargnani. Milan Macvan is gonna be such a beast, 14 pts and 8 rebounds off the bench.

Built Ford Tough
Some of the notable performances from the first day of action: Andrea Bargnani got off to a slow start against Serbia but played well late to make things interesting, at least for a little bit. He finished with a respectable 22 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks on 8-15 shooting, but Serbia is clearly the better team and it showed in the game. Danilo Gallinari put up 15 points and 3 steals on 6-9 shooting, but other than him and Bargnani nobody scored in double digits. Enes Kanter put up 14 points and 7 boards in 22 minutes. It was against Portugal so it was hardly impressive competition, their starting center was 6'8 I think, but I figured I'd mention it anyways. He had 11 points and 5 boards in the first half, so he did most of his damage then. He only played 22 minutes in the game as Turkey won by nearly 30 points. Luol Deng played great through 3 quarters to keep Great Britain close to Lithuania but tired down the stretch as he played every minute and shouldered a huge load offensive and defensively. He finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks, but only shot 8-22 from the floor. Tony Parker lit up Latvia. He put up 31 points and 7 assists on 11-18 shooting. Diaw had 14/5, Noah had 10/7 and Batum had 10/4. The score was fairly close (89-78), but only because Latvia was lights out from downtown shooting 11-22 including 6-9 from Janis Blums (finished with 32 points on 12-18 shooting). Andrei Kirilenko had 20 points, 11 rebonds and 4 steals in Russia's win against Ukraine. Dirk Nowitzki had 25 points on 10-14 shooting in 27 minutes while Chris Kaman put up 18 points and 10 rebounds on 8-12 shooting in 21 minutes in Germany's 27 point win over Israel. Pau Gasol had 29 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks on 8-12 shooting, Marc Gasol had 16 points and 7 rebounds in 22 minutes and Juan Carlos Navarro had 23 points on 5-11 shooting. In another notable performance, but for all the wrong reasons, Spain's point guards had an abysmal day. Jose Calderon had 0 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists in 12 minutesVictor Sada had 0 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 13 minutesAnd, best of all, Ricky Rubio had 0 points, 0 rebounds and 0 assists on 0-5 shooting in 16 minutes. Just goes to show Spain's depth when you get a combined 0 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists from your three point guards and still manage to win, granted it was against Poland. andreusito
Well, Spain beat Lithuania pretty bad. We were up 25 at halftime, playing some of the best basketball in our history. Lithuania didn't manage to score, and we did it from inside and outside. If Spain plays like we did in that first half, there is no team in these Euros that's even close (10pts) to beating us. Today we're facing Turkey though, and if they lose they're out so they'll be playing hard.
Built Ford Tough
Macedonia upset Lithuania earlier today. That team is on on hell of a run. I don't think anybody saw anything like this coming.
