This is absolutely terrible. I haven't read the CNN article yet, but I've been hearing that the EU deemed the plane unsafe to fly, yet the pilot and whoever else is in charge decided they would use it. Absolutely terrible and sickening if true.

Yeah this is really tragic, the entire [expletive]ing team was on board. The one player who survived is going to have a really difficult life with burns to over 80% of his body, though there's a good chance he might not even make it past a few days.

I feel like an ass for admitting this, but I have always considered this scenario and wondered how a pro league would handle losing an entire team in something such as a plane crash.

Apparently the KHL is asking every other team to "donate" at least 3 players so that Lokomotiv can build a new roster.

Honestly, I think everyone, at one point, has thought about that.

RIP to those lost, it's a huge tragedy. Such terrible news.

Heard that if an NHL plane crashes, they hold a fantasy draft in the offseason where the team can pick none protected players from other teams to create a new team.

Not that I'd ever want an entire team to die but would be neat to watch a fantasy draft.

Yeah, basically an expansion draft.

Alexander Galimov, who was the lone member of the team who survived, passed away today.

It is probably for the best though considering 90% of his body was covered in severe burns and it was unlikely that he would be able to live any sort of life anyways.

The other survivor, the crew member, is still in critical condition.

Also, for those of you who were wondering what is going to happen with Lockomotiv, they aren't going to participate in the 2011-12 KHL season. Instead they will play in a lower league as part of a rebuilding process.

It's sad to say because life is so precious and valuable, but I agree in this situation. That would be an awful way to continue to live your life.

There need to be answers to what happened, and actions taken to punish those at fault.
