fish7718
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYIgT2XSEiwLate last night, warnings began to work their way into the press that a threat had emerged to unspecified targets in these two cities from terrorist operatives who are already in the U.S. Intelligence emerged that two, perhaps three, men had entered the U.S. in August with the intention of executing an attack on or near the 9/11 anniversary this Sunday using car bombs. One of those operatives may be a U.S. citizen. The threat is believed to have emerged from Pakistan, where Al Qaeda has sustained serious blows to its executive leadership this year. In May, U.S. forced killed Osama bin Laden and, in August, Al Qaeda’s new second-in-command, Atiyah Abd al-Rahman was also killed. Many of the terror organizations major figures identified in 2001 are now dead, with the significant exception of the Egyptian Doctor Ayman al-Zawahiri; a close confidant of bin Laden who is now believed to be in command of the remnants of the organization. The release of this information could be an attempt to scare the operatives into aborting their mission. Further, once terrorist operatives and assets are in place, given the security net around these target cities, it makes less sense to wait for a specific date than to simply execute the operation before anything is scuttled by counterterror or intelligence officials. At least, this is the comforting logic we apply to these things so that we can go about our daily lives living and working in places marked by a big, red bull’s eye. If you reside or work in either New York or Washington, stay vigilant. As for 9/11’s ten-year anniversary ceremonies, Mayor Bloomberg says that there has been no change to the schedule. “The best thing we can do to fight terror is to not let it intimidate us, “Bloomberg told the New York Times. “I can tell you our ceremonies will go on over the weekend exactly as they were planned.” Thank God Mayor Bloomberg shut down half the thoroughfares in this city. I always thought it was ridiculous to, say, shut down one of two major arteries running through a low-intensity area like Times Square. But now, it makes it much more difficult to plant a car bomb on only one working street. Good job, Mike. While making the streets safe for the homeless to grab a park chair, you made us safer in the process. Source Saw this during the game last night, they played the press conference. I was wondering why they had dogs at Grand Central on the way home that night...Pretty scary considering I will be at the Meadowlands on 9/11 at the Cowboys Jets game, that could be an area targeted for attack. Supposedly it's just truck bombs, but you never know... Edited September 9, 2011 by fish7718
EastCoastNiner
Not to mention the Westboro Baptist Church is going to be picketing the 9/11 memorial. They are going to get seriously hurt if they do go, and I doubt the police will do everything they can to help them.
Lkr
I don't think this is the first time there have been threats on a 9/11 anniversary. If there were any plans, they'll probably be called off now and they'll just use this as psyche to scare people on Sunday
