fish7718
The Carolina Panthers' worst fears came true Monday. Star linebacker Jon Beason is out for the season with a torn Achilles' tendon, coach Ron Rivera told NFL Network's Steve Wyche on Monday. Rivera had hinted at the severity of the injury after Sunday's season-opening loss to the Arizona Cardinals, calling Beason's situation "dire." Beason suffered the injury while attempting to chase down Cardinals tight end Jeff King on a 48-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter. Beason collapsed to the ground and was carted off to the locker room. The news is a major blow to Carolina's defense. Beason, a first-round selection in the 2007 NFL Draft, has started 65 consecutive games and been named the three straight Pro Bowl teams. Beason recently signed a five-year extension with the Panthers worth more than $50 million. Half that money is guaranteed. Source terrible, at least it could be worse for us...
