Please, do tell me what Nash adds that Kane does not add. It's nothing.

Nash is not elite. I know you're a Leafs fans ad probably wouldn't know an elite player if they were right in front of you, but Rick Nash is not elite.

Patrice Bergeron has more 70 point seasons than him, and had piss poor line mates when he entered the league.

Rick Nash's point differential between him and his next few top scoring teammates is not that of an elite player.

Rick Nash is not elite, nor is he close to an elite player. He's not a top 30 player, and not even close to a top 20 forward without a doubt.

Rick Nash adds size and power to a top line, something that Kane doesn't add any of. I'd like to see you name 29 forwards that you could make a legitimate argument that they bring more to a team then Nash. And thats more then just points.

There's 27 players off the top of my head that are without a doubt better players than Nash. We're not talking who will be better in two years, we're talking who's better now. Nash is not better than any of those players.

You're just looking at him being a #1 overall pick, that in actuality, is a major underachiever.

The best part of this list is the amount of teammates.

Figured we'd get a big one before the day was over.

Also, I cannot believe that the Sabres turned Gaustad into a 1st round pick. Crazy. With that said, I love that the Preds are going all out. Hope it works for them.

Unless Nashville wins the cup, I think that Gaustad for a 1st trade is going to be looked at as an awful trade, especially after the draft if Buffalo can draft a decent player, which this years draft is full of.

Also happy to hear Aulie traded for carter Ashton. Aulie is good enough to play NHL minutes, but he's just being wasted being in TO. Carter Ashton won't help this team now, but he's a future 2nd/3rd line winger who can score goals and has speed. I'm happy, just wish we could have done something to give us a shot at being more competitive.

That team is going to be very, very difficult to score on, though. Fisher, Gaustad, Legwand and Wilson down the middle are all big, two-way centers. Everybody knows about their defense and adding a vet like Hal Gill is only going to help. They have nice balanced scoring and assuming Andrei Kostitsyn plays like he can, that is just another offensive piece that they added.

They building a very good team. I would not want to play that team in the playoffs, especially with a guy like Rinne in net.

Besides, Nashville is going to likely finish with a top 7 or so record in the league so the pick won't be too great. The draft isn't all that great, is loaded with defenseman and they have great defensive depth already with guys like Josi, Ellis, Blum and of course Weber and Suter, if they re-sign in the summer.

It may be a bit much because it is Gaustad, but much like you, I like how they are positioning themselves to make a run this postseason.

Plus they have six guys 22 or under in the AHL along with some current guys coming into the system next year.

Troll bait DENIED

That's not a good offer. Yes, Dubinsky is nice, but Nash could fetch more than that. It's basically a bunch of spare parts with some potential. I don't blame Sather for not offering more either because there's no way in hell he should have offered more.

It's going to be interesting to see what the Rangers locker room is going to be like now............I'm hoping to some tension. Time for them to self-destruct.

You move a Rick Nash at the draft IMO, and you trade FOR a Nash in the summer as well. I see Toronto upping their offer this summer if we continue this slide and finish with a pretty high pick, for example (don't even want him, but could see us dangling a top pick if we have one due to this terrible end to the season).

You trade nash, you do it like Philly did with Richards., you get one A list prospect (and a nice supporting piece), not a bunch of solid prospects/late firsts. Quality over quantity, at least that should be your philosophy while you have absolutely no quality in your lineup. Luckily for Columbus, they should have a new, competent GM in charge before Nash has to be moved. If I was Columbus I'd have done everything to get Couture, but I wouldn't blame SJ if they refused to give him up, seeing as he already better than Nash

Hopefully for that franchise's sake they rape a team in a deal, cause Nash is absolutely not worth it.

Columbus played it so well with Nash not being a free agent and teased him to teams that only one is going to win the Stanley Cup so that at the draft the price goes up for him as teams see their holes come playoff time....then Howson opens his mouth and says Nash is the one who wants out. By far the dumbest move possible.

Rick Nash would be a solid pickup for any team with talent. As ECN stated above, it takes good teammates to have a great team and if you are able to grab Nash without giving up core players, you will come out as a winner.

I don't know.

I certainly understand where you are coming from, but on the other hand, he would be just as likely to lose his job if he makes a terrible trade as he is if he didn't move him.

I think the chances of him being fired would increase if he accepted a package of what the Rangers were offering him or a hypothetical offer from Toronto of Kulemin, Blacker, D'Amigo and a 1st or some other mediocore package like that.

I don't disagree with your thought process, just throwing out another possibility.

IMO, Nash's agent is the one to blame there. After that entire soap opera, Howson had to do something to save face. I don't really look at it as Howson selling Nash out, more of him telling his fan base (or what is left of it) that the team was handcuffed.

They weren't really handcuffed though, that's the thing. Nash was keeping hush-hush about the whole thing then Howson openly states he wants out and the value drops instantly.

Rangers final offer was Brandon Dubinsky, JT Miller, Tim Erixon, Christian Thomas and a first-round draft pick.

You either take that and hope they go on a run or you just finish your job out like he is doing. Also could have been the owners calling the shots as well but who knows.
