AboveLegit
The NBA is expected to announce Friday it will postpone of the start of training camp and the opening slate of exhibition games after a negotiating session Thursday in New York between the players union director Billy Hunter and commissioner David Stern ended without a labor agreement or progress toward one soon, league sources said. Stern, according to one source, told Hunter in Thursday's meeting the owners want to reduce the players' cut of basketball-related revenue (BRI) to a figure well below 50 percent. This is what was expected from the lockout, we were going to miss training camps and preseason games, but reading the last part was concerning. Currently, the players get about 57% BRI, and have offered to cut it down to 54%. While they may settle for cutting it down a little more, it is highly unlikely that they agree to cut it down to "a figure well below 50%." This just sucks, the idea of losing a full season is becoming reality now.... Oh yeah, happy birthday David Stern.. <_< http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7005394/nba-annouce-postponement-traning-camp-exhibition-games-sources-say
420mayne
Ugh I hope the season doesn't get pushed back too far. It's looking like Dec-Jan as a beast case scenario. I just hope they don't try and put too many games in like they did in 1999. Makes the players too fatigued and overall less impressive gameplay. However the pros of this are it makes every game count that much more since there will be fewer. In the past we saw an 8th seeded Knick team get to the finals. During an 82 game season that won't happen, but with only half a season of games under ones belt it is a very good possibility and would make the playoffs much more exciting since there would be more upset potential. The area where NHL playoffs >>>>>> NBA playoffs.
