I don't see why Miles is so under rated as to where that trash talk is so unbelievable. First off, we all know Rob is just firing up his own guys and down talking the opponent so I don't see why people are buying into it, however. Miles has had better stats over the past 2 years and even while Miles missed the game last week he still has the same stats Calvin Johnson has hold 2 TD's. Then also, check the stats over the past 2 years Miles got him beat. I'll take Calvin over Miles but it's damn close. As for Dez, he not there yet, but he will be.

btw You a Lions fan now?

Calvin is much better than Miles.

Okay? No he isn't. Give facts to back the argument. Stat wise Miles Austin has Calvin beat. Miles is an excellent route runner with great hands. The only thing Calvin really has on him is height.

There really are no facts to back up an opinion piece. There will never be an even playing field to compare the two on, as Calvin has spent most of his career with Jon Kitna, Daunte Culpepper, Dan Orlovsky, Drew Stanton, and Shaun Hill, while Miles has played mostly with Romo and a smattering of Jon Kitna and Brad Johnson. Different teams, different quarterbacks, different threats keeping double coverage away, etc. It's all going to be opinion on physical tools and ability. Numbers don't always do justice. Anyways, I'll try..:

Stat wise Miles Austin has Calvin beat.

Through their respective first 5 seasons:

Calvin Johnson - 63 Games Played, 286 Receptions, 4,416 Yards, 39 TDs

Miles Austin - 71 Games Played, 182 Receptions, 2,948 Yards, 25 TDs

Miles is an excellent route runner with great hands. The only thing Calvin really has on him is height.

Calvin has superstar ability over him. Also has great hands, and can go up and get any ball. If you're starting a franchise, you're taking Miles Austin over Calvin Johnson? I don't think there are three people on this site who'd do that.

Miles wasn't even featured extensively as a WR until 2009 it's silly to compare his early numbers. That's like saying Sanchez put up better numbers than Rodgers did in his first 3 seasons, it's pretty dumb. I never or will never say Miles is better, I just think it's dumb to say that a top 3 WR is way better than a top 10, potentially top 5 receiver.

So what numbers should we look at, the ones you cherrypicked? Come on. They were drafted in the same year. We can compare Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers, if you'd like.. Rodgers is on top. But, again.. as I said before, it's the eye test. I was just putting the stats on a bit more even playing field. If I were picking a QB, I'd see which has better ability and has shown more in his playing time.

I would put Miles Austin outside of the top 10, but regardless.. a top 2 wideout is much better than a fringe 10. The difference between an Andre Johnson and a Santonio Holmes is huge, isn't it?

You think Santonio Holmes is fringe top 10? and you think Santonio Holmes is better than Miles Austin? And Calvin Johnson is better than Roddy White? Lot of questionable things being said here, I don't think there is a question as to if Miles is Austin is a top 10 wide receiver. If you can name 10 better I'll listen to that.

The numbers I cherrypicked? lol I used the numbers since Miles Austin was a number 1 receiver therefore he would comparable numbers to a #1 receiver. Miles Austin wasn't drafted either. Just a minor correction.

Calvin Johnson

Andre Johnson

Larry Fitzgerald

Brandon Marshall

Vincent Jackson

Anquan Boldin

Mike Wallace

Dez Bryant

Hakeem Knicks

Marcus Colston

Roddy White

Steve Smith (CAR)

Greg Jennings

What WR's do you think Miles Austin are better than? I don't think all of them are better, but this means at least four of them must be worse if he's in the top 10.

I think him and Steve Smith are pretty even and Nicks, I think all 3 of them are pretty close.

I think Santonio is close to Miles, they simply play in different offenses. The year that Ben was forced to throw a won, Holmes had huge numbers. Miles has always played in a passing offense with a great passing QB and pass blocking o-line, and has only had one great year.

I don't think Calvin is worse than Roddy, if that helps clear things.

If you won't use career stats, just use last year's numbers. There is no need for a three year split. Or, as I had said from the start, use the eye test, because these stats don't do a receiver justice when the situations are drastically different.

Since Calvin and Miles came into the league, sorry I tried to save keystrokes -_-

My "better than Miles" list:

Calvin Johnson

Mike Wallace

Andre Johnson

Larry Fitzgerald

Vincent Jackson

Greg Jennings

Brandon Marshall

Roddy White

Reggie Wayne

Hakeem Nicks

DeSean Jackson

Marques Colston

Steve Smith

Roy Williams (Just Kidding!)

It's a subjective list, but it's my opinion. Miles would be next, Santonio not far behind. Could even be missing someone, I went off a short list.

Sorry but I think that list is terrible. First off Miles is 6-2 and where as he may not be 6-5 hes got a big body and can go up and get jump balls. Aside from that he runs very precise routes, has good but not great hands, has the physicality to beat corners who jam him and has the speed to beat any defense deep. I think he's better than most of those WR's just because he is so diverse in what you can do with him. The most under rated part of Miles is his abiltiy to run after the catch which ties in with physically. he breaks tackles all the time after making catches. I'd go player by player and tell you why I think Miles is better, but comparing my list above your list you can see how far apart we are on this. To me Miles vs Holmes isn't even close. Miles has 3 inches on Holmes, better hands, more physically and he's almost or is just as fast. It's stupid to argue opinions that are so far apart, but if your guy put Miles behind most of those guys I can see how you think Calvin is much better. I doubt you'd be saying Calvin Johnson is much better than Steve Smith, Hakeem Nicks or Greg Jennings.

I'd say he's much better than all three without blinking an eye. Maybe I overrate him, but I think the difference between Calvin and Miles is plenty.

Miles is underrated in some ways, however, I think Roddy White, Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson and Fitzgerald are in a class of their own when it comes to ranking WR's.

I'd say Austin is around 7-8 as well..

Until Roddy White can prove that he can catch tough passes and not drop a lot of balls, he is nowhere near those three other WR's. Those WR's are in a class of their own.

All three of those WR's will be HOF players.

lol what? Roddy White had 3 drops all last season.

Roddy White will also be a hall of famer.

We either need a power back, or more pitches on third and short...we havent converted those runs all year, time to get someone or stop trying them...bad new for Phillip Tanner, hasn't got his shot, prolly odd man out for power back (if we get one)

Newman back, Alan Ball still killing us playing the slot. Allowing easy third down passes, need Scandrick back now, gets his contract and sits out 4 weeks, dick.

A bit disappointed with the goal line stuff but I gotta say, the way our D is playing today, I'm fine with it. If we keep this up not only this game, but all season, oh man we are going to be good. I am shocked to see players are actually play GOOD coverage, and I love it. Not to mention we've stuffed the run thanks to Mr. Lee all year long.
