The move may increase pressure for a similar tax in the UK, which suffers from the highest levels of obesity in Europe.

Starting from this Saturday, Danes will pay an extra 30p on each pack of butter, 8p on a pack of crisps, and an extra 13p on a pound of mince, as a result of the tax.

The tax is expected to raise about 2.2bn Danish Krone (£140m), and cut consumption of saturated fat by close to 10pc, and butter consumption by 15pc.

"It's the first ever fat-tax," said Mike Rayner, Director of Oxford University's Health Promotion Research Group, who has long campaigned for taxes on unhealthy foods.

No big deal. He eats steaks and fries, and just likes to win Mr. Olympia contests. Regardless of people saying he juices, he is one of, in not the greatest bodybuilder to ever live, and eats steaks and fries which are high in fat.

so is taxing cigarettes. we should be able to smoke them without absurd taxes and we should be able to smoke them anywhere

Not sure about smoking "everywhere" but I agree cigarette taxes are crazy and anti-smoking ads are the stupidest things I've ever seen. People know what they're getting themselves into.

But if you get rid of the anti-smoking ads, then little kids wouldn't know the dangers since they weren't brought up on them like we were.. if that makes sense

I don't need to see commercials where they're removing hearts and lungs and other shit like that.

I was going to agree with you on that point, but then I saw Flash's last post which I think he's talking about the graphic advertisements that are shown in Europe. I still agree with your point though.

Here's an idea: stop charging so much for healthy food products.

Nowadays, I walk into the store and buy dinner for myself and Jessica, and it costs as much (or more) than what it would if I just went to Taco Bell. People notice it, and they wonder why the hell they would bother cooking, in that case, if you can just have your tacos cheaper at a fast food place.

Then, once you pull up to order, you're getting unhealthy tacos, not those you can make at home (maybe you thought about chicken tacos, but at Taco Bell, you're going a different route), and, well, there you go.
