La Bomba
For some reason after I got red rings two months ago I can't connect to XBL. I went on vacation and I haven't turned my XBOX on since I left. Everything works fine other than the XBL connection. Any suggestions? This is my last stop before I call customer service which is something I really don't want to do.
Cobb
Are you connected directly or do you have one of the wireless adapters.
La Bomba
Connected directly. My router says I'm connected for some reason too.
Cobb
Hmm...I've only connected directly once and had no problems so I have no idea what the problem could be. I'm sure someone who connects directly on a daily basis might have an idea.
Lkr
see if you can connect with no router. just go straight from modem to xbox

La Bomba
I tried connecting at a friend's house and it said it waasn't valid or something like that.
La Bomba
Wow, I've literally tried everything and it won't connect in my house. I'm tempted to bring the Xbox to a friends house and see if it works there. If that doesn't work ethier, I'm just going to tell them to bring me a new one. Art
Your Xbox is defected bro, you got the red rings of death...
Dr. Feelgood
Do you have the XBOX plugged in? The XBOX needs to be plugged in in order for it to work. No really though, obviously your internet is working since you're able to post...I haven't read the entire topic but what kind of adapter are you using (I'm at work and I'm multitasking)? La Bomba
I'm using an ethernet cord, but my Xbox works fine, I'm playing it right now. It doesn't freeze or anything. It just doesn't connect to Xbox Live. Edited August 15, 2009 by Poohdini
Dr. Feelgood
I recommend getting these. http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Play-Link/dp/B0006FQ50I It's what I've been using and it's pretty awesome. The main router is in my mom's room and I'm able to connect on XBOX Live in my room and in the living room. They never fail at all (at least it hasn't for me and I've had them for 2 years). I got mine pretty cheap when they were on sale but it's worth the money. I'm not quite sure what your problem is. When you test the connection, what part of it is failing the test? La Bomba
It has always worked perfectly fine until now. I'm guessing because of red rings. Â When I test the connection it says that I don't have the cord plugged in. Edited August 15, 2009 by Poohdini
Smitty
You don't still have your warranty in effect? Just send it in.
La Bomba
I still have a warranty. I just got everything done to ship it tomorrow.
Lkr
if it says the cable isn't plugged in, there is definitely a problem with the NIC

fish7718
My friend has this problem with his xbox, it wouldnt work from the ethernet but he could connect on the wireless. If you have a wireless connection at home perhaps you should just try that. Edited August 17, 2009 by Fish7718
Dr. Feelgood
What's the NIC? According to google, Network Interface Card.
Karl Malone
If you got the red ring and then it started working again without having to send it in, then thats probably it. My xbox would run fine but it wouldnt read any discs. Probably the same thing your going through except with internet connection inside the xbox.
