Does this equal 26 or 0...

Basic maths tells us anything x 0 has to be 0 i I work this out by myself I get 0 but using the calculator is does...

2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 + (2 x 0) = 26

Automatically making the bracket and using the rule of BODMAS

I think it is 0 but 50% of the people I ask say 26 and rest 0...

Are there really six people that think the answer is actually 0? :lol: .

Yeah, 'cause the way you've put it - it is:

Complete the following equation, and vote in the poll

2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 x 0 = ?

Had you put some brackets - the result coulda been different. ;)

Parenthesis and Exponents

Multiplication and Division

Addition and Subtraction

It's not that tough. There's an order for a reason. Left to right, you do the first multiplication problem you see...and that first problem is 2 times 0.

Once you complete that, you do your addition, which will give you your answer, 28.

I mean, I was planning on being a math major before I changed my classes up as a college freshman, took Calculus as a senior in HS, moved straight into Calc 3 my first year of college. I'm pretty sure it's 28.

No order of operations means you do

Parenthesis first

Exponents second

Multiplication third/fourth

Divsion third/four

Addition fifth/sixth

Subtracting fifth/sixth

meaning the first thing you would do in the equation is 2x0 then you would add all the 2's up and a 0 and get 28

No, you're still wrong. :lol: .

It's called the order of operations.

Let's go through them, shall we?

Parentheses: None

Exponents: None

Multiplication: 2x0

Division: None

Addition: You add up all of the remaining "2's" that were not used in the multiplication, which are 14 of them, equaling 28.

Subtraction: None

Answer: 28

I could see your point if this was 'in theory' a basic math problem, but the purpose of this equation is to make it a trick question. You can't really question someone's intelligence on whether or not they get a trick question right

This wasn't a trick question. It's a basic math problem, that many people seem to get get wrong.

12-4 what? 19-0 what? red sox postseason what? clearly you're in a place to mock someones intelligence

Never said that they would definitely finish 12-4, but keep using something you're wrong about

The Patriots have one loss. I'm a hell of a lot closer than your prediction would be.

I didn't talk about the Red Sox much at all this season, whether they were in 1st place or not, so you fail again.

Ahem:

49ers:

@Seattle -W

New Orleans-L

@ Kansas City-W

@Atlanta-L

Philadelphia-W

Oakland-L

@Carolina-W

Denver-W

St. Louis-W

Tampa Bay-W

@Arizona-W

@Green Bay-W

Seattle-W

@San Diego-L

@St. Louis-W

Arizona-W

I have them going 12-4

You also had the Patriots at 19-0 both of the last two seasons, and both have been nothing but wrong.

I didn't talk about the Red Sox much at all this season, whether they were in 1st place or not, so you fail again.

I love how that's the post you quote, yet you never seem to quote the one where I said they could very well go 7-9....weird. Also, they were the only team that I didn't give just one prediction for, but whatever makes you sleep at night?

Also, nine whole posts since the season started?!?!?!? WOWWWWW!!!!!!!! That is so many posts!! That's like talking about them every day!

14-2 last season is ten times closer than you would have predicted, and they have one loss this season....again, a lot closer than you would have predicted.

You picked them to go 12-4. You said, and I quote: "I have them going 12-4". That is picking them to go 12-4.

Well, firstly, I quoted 11 posts, not 9. I left off most of the less inflammatory ones, as they weren't needed to get the point across.

You talked lots of shit in favor of the Red Sox. You said they were the Yankees' "Daddy". You definitively said the Red Sox would make the playoffs. The Red Sox missed the playoffs.

Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. They key word we're looking for here is "wrong". You were wrong.

Well, firstly, I said they could go 7-9 or 12-4, but keep quoting the same post!

Secondly, two of your posts were after the season ended, so I didn't include those, but did in the next post.

Thirdly, where in this thread did I mention anything about the Red Sox going to the playoffs? That was never a question. I said they would make the playoffs.

Fourthly, if you're going to say 14-2 is "wrong" (which it is), then no one here is pretty much ever right in their predictions, so I fail to see your point. Again, my predictions were not that far off.

If you're going to try and give me shit about predictions, you might as well stick with the Patriots and 49er's, and not the Red Sox. I've talked much, much more about the Patriots and 49er's in the past week than the Red Sox the entire season. I don't mind if you mock me about the Patriots because I was hyping them up, and did say they would go 19-0, but trying to make it sound like I talked about the Red Sox a lot this season is far fetched.

Finally, why didn't you answer my math problem?

Oh, and once again, it wasn't me taking the thread off-topic as usual.

No, you said that they'd go 12-4. You said that IF you were more conservative (which the world of OTR knows you aren't), you'd pick 9-7. They went 6-10. Not close. 6 game differential.

Secondly, two of your posts were after the season ended, so I didn't include those, but did in the next post.

Not a single one of them was from after the season. Re-read.

wut

The point is that your prediction was wrong. Your feeble defense mechanism of "closer than you would have been" doesn't work. Wrong is wrong. 19-0 is not close to 14-3 or 4-1.

You hyped the Red Sox just as much as you did the Patriots. Red Sox in the world series, Pedroia getting another ring, S-T-A-C-K-E-D, Red Sox will win the division by at least 8 games (went on to lose it by 7, 15 game swing there hun), Red Sox are the Yankees' daddy for the next decade or more, raping teams and no competition, too good for the rest of the league, Boston is too good/sit down New York/ZOMG i'm so confidentz, bend over Mariano, just another walk in the park.. yeah, totally sounds like you weren't hyping the Red Sox at all. Barely hyped them at all.

Finally, why didn't you answer my math problem?

It is entirely irrelevant to the discussion we're having. Solve it yourself. Or, I can go dig up the rest of your posts that I left out pertaining to the Red Sox, and we can get a more accurate post per day of the season count?
