Dr. Feelgood
Imagine if...back during the 2005 NBA Draft, had Portland kept the 3rd pick, we could have had Deron Williams, Chris Paul, or Danny Granger. Or, let's just forget about Deron, Chris, and Danny. What if we still made that trade and instead...took Andrew Bynum. I'm going to assume that we still would have sucked the next year, Kevin Pritchard was still going to rape the Bulls and TWolves for Roy and Aldridge regardless. Now all of a sudden, you've got Roy, Aldridge, and Bynum with Telfair (who is still young with potential). Let's still imagine that we miraculously win the lottery in 2007 and still have the number 1 pick. Since we've already got Bynum, we take Durant instead of Oden. A team of Roy, Durant, Aldridge, Bynum and Telfair? Plus, I'd assume Telfair would have had a better career had he had Roy, Durant, Aldridge, and Bynum around him. That just sounds scary...Just for fun, I'm going to assume that Bynum, Roy, and Oden have healthy careers... A buddy of mine and I were talking about this and it was kind of fun to think about the possibilities of what could have been. Discuss some "what ifs" for your team(s). ballorama
That's a pretty crazy scenario haha, portland would be amazing. What if the Mavericks, who played Golden State days before the playoffs and rested their starters beat them in the game, would Golden State still have made the playoffs in 07? I don't think so.What if the Bucks took CP3 or Deron instead of Bogut? If the Heat didn't take Beasley in 08 withe the #2 pick and took Russel Westbrook? Imagine.. Westbrook-Wade-LeBron-Bosh-.??.. now i'm not sure they would have been able to get LeBron/Bosh since they traded Beasley away for cap space I believe.. but still crazy to think haha. Owner Real Deal Posted October 27, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted October 27, 2011 Well, two things... 1) If you did select Deron or CP3, Portland doesn't get Aldridge the following year. There's a massive difference between those two guys, and a duo of Telly and Blake. Portland wins games. 2) If you select Drew, you'd probably end up almost as bad, so I could see you getting the pick. However, Portland selected Aldridge THINKING he would be their center, and Randolph would be the PF. I'm not quite sure they take Aldridge if they have Drew, especially with Magloire and Przybilla there. Realistically, if they took Drew in 2005, they may have taken a SF in 2006...and, not to turn your smile upside down, but that SF may have been Morrison, lol. If Morrison goes, Jordan takes Brandon Roy with the 3rd pick, and that's a fact, lol. He was the second man on their draft list, according to Ford, if I recall correctly. So, while it all sounded really good, it may be a GREAT thing that the Blazers didn't draft Drew. He suffered three major knee injuries, they may have missed out on Roy, probably decided not to take Aldridge, and probably missed out on getting one of the top picks in 2007 (they fell in love with Brandan Wright...how bad is that?). Sometimes, good is good enough.
Owner Real Deal Posted October 27, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted October 27, 2011 Here's a couple of BIG ones: Imagine if Portland takes Jordan, and teams him up with Drexler. Imagine if the Bucks never trade Dirk Nowitzki for Robert Traylor.
Owner Real Deal Posted October 27, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted October 27, 2011 Triple post FTW. What if Detroit takes Carmelo over Darko? They were minutes from doing it. Wade? Ben WallaceRasheed WallaceCarmelo Anthony | Tayshaun PrinceRichard HamiltonChauncey Billups or Ben WallaceRasheed WallaceTayshaun PrinceDwyane Wade | Richard HamiltonChauncey Billups That second team would've been the greatest defensive team of all time. Built Ford Tough
My biggest one as a Raptors fan is just imagining how different their history would've been had McGrady stayed in Toronto with Carter. Another one that would've drastically changed the landscape of the NBA is imagine if Duncan signed in Orlando in 2001 to play with McGrady. How different would their careers be looked upon had that actually happened? Just watching a prime Duncan, McGrady and a healthy Hill on the same team would've been a thing of beauty. Those are my two biggest ones, at least off the top of my head.
