I have heard lots of people mention Fielder to the Angels, which makes no sense to me unless one of Trumbo/Morales gets moved. I also see Albert staying in STL and Sabathia staying with NYY. For some reason, my early gut prediction with Reyes is Nationals (barf). No rhyme or reason, no research went into that. But they have money to spend and they are not afraid to spend it. They are my early pick to sign Ryan Madson also. I'd like to think Jimmy Rollins stays with the Phillies on a 3 year deal, but I think they will have to move on if he demands more than that. I will pick Giants for him. As for those others, no idea yet...

Pujols? - Cardinals

Fielder? - Cubs

Sabathia? - Yankees but will opt out

Reyes? - Red Sox

Just my quick thoughts. Fielder to Angels isn't ridiculous to me Trumbo is young and they can't keep counting on Morales every year, it has cost them 2 years..I think Theo will bring him to Chicago though. I think Sabathia opts out just to play the Red Sox vs Yankees game to get a bid deal. Reyes I feel will get paid for that batting title from the Sox big time. Don't think the Mets are willing to match...plus Reyes wants to win, can't see him going to a bum team.

Kind of late on this, but the Braves traded Derek Lowe to the Indians.

Bye Derek Lowe!

So freaking awesome. My Thome jersey that I got at Christmas in 2002 is no longer a throwback.

Crazy thought: a Thome injury in 2005 gets Ryan Howard into the lineup and forces Thome out. 7 years later, a Howard injury means Jim gets to come back.

This is certainly an....uh, interesting showcase video. But the dude is supposedly a beast and he will likely be in the Major Leagues next season. Sounds like the Marlins will get him if they want him, but I am sure several teams will be tempted to throw a lot of money his way. Phillies and Nationals attended his workout as well.

I hate my fellow Yankee fans.. had a debate today with a few who thought that Nova was completely robbed of the ROY. Basically, their arguments were "he pitches in the higher pressure of the Yankees", and "Nova was 16-4". I also heard "if Nova pitched for Boston or LA he'd have won the award in a runaway".

...sigh.

Hellickson started more games, pitched more innings, gave up less hits and runs, had more strikeouts, threw more pitches per start, had a lower WHIP, BAA, and ERA. Also had a better ERA+.

But Nova had more wins, so there's that.

Haha "Prada" :). I also hear the Rockies are the most interested team in Grady Sizemore. I would love to see the Phillies take that risk if it didn't mean cockblocking Dom Brown, which I am sure it would.

Totally forgot to post about this the other day, but some major, major news going down in the past week.

The best news is that there is a new CBA in place, which will be announced officially on Tuesday. Such a relief that baseball fans don't need to deal with the bullshit NBA and NFL fans have had to deal with in the past year.

But with the new CBA (and the sale of the Astros to Jim Crane) comes the news that the Astros will move to the AL West, making two 15 team leagues. Obviously this has been speculated for a while, now it is official. The bigger part of this is that interleague play will now have to be a season-long thing. Mixed feelings here, but I think this can grow on me.

Also, the playoffs will officially be expanding to 5 teams per league, with two wild cards in each league playing a one game "series" prior to the division series'. This has also been speculated for a while. This will be great for TV, but I really don't think the playoffs needed to be messed with. But this has the potential to grow on me as well.

Also with the new CBA, teams will no longer lose draft picks for signing free agents, effective immediately (but teams will still get compensation picks for losing them).

But, alas, the Phillies will still lose their first round pick for signing Papelbon, since it happened before the new CBA. Ruben Amaro, you are truly a terrible GM.
