fish7718
Totally and utterly ridiculous. 5/75 for Wilson btw. It's LA, they have the money, thank god they will finally spend it and stop crying at other large market teams that spend theirs. Cobb
Brewers agree with Alex Gonzalez on a 1-year contract. While I will miss his defense, I will take an average defender who is not clueless at the plate over him.

trutrojan8
Rockies trade Ian Stewart and Casey Weathers to the Cubs for Tyler Colvin and DJ LeMaheui or something like that... anyone know anything about them?
NomarFachix
Neither is anything especially special. Colvin was supposed to get playing time this year, but did absolutely nothing with it and I guess the Cubs were tired of him. I think LeMahieu is viewed as a backup INF. trutrojan8
Backup INF = startig INF for the rockies the last few years outside of tulo and helton haha
Phightins
Michael Cuddyer is about to sign a 3 year, $31M contract with the Rockies. Great for Cuddyer, probably bad for the Rockies.
Phightins
Mat Latos to the Reds for Yonder Alonso, Yasmani Grandal, Edinson Volquez, and Brad Boxberger. My goodness that is a lot. But I like it for both teams. Edited December 17, 2011 by Phightins

Phightins
:o Wowzers yeah nice for both teams, we will finally get to see Yonder in the bigs.. Yep, as soon as the Padres find new homes for Rizzo, Blanks, and Guzman. But too much of something is never bad. Very interested to see what they do though. NomarFachix
Yep, as soon as the Padres find new homes for Rizzo, Blanks, and Guzman. Is it certain that they have to move both of the 1B? I've heard that Alonso has been transitioning to OF for a while now, lost a bunch of weight this offseason to help the move. I've heard that Alonso has been transitioning to OF for a while now, lost a bunch of weight this offseason to help the move. I think they had Blanks in LF for a while last year also. Seems like a pretty big risk to move a guy that isn't a natural OFer to LF in one of the biggest OFs in the league. Have to think at least 1 or 2 of those guys will be traded, even if they can get Blanks or Alonso to work in LF.
NomarFachix
Yeah, I just think they could probably get a big enough pull from just Rizzo and Blanks to make keeping Guzman (1B) and Alonso (LF) worth it.. or, if they want the higher upside, keep Rizzo and ship Guzman. Phightins
keithlaw @keithlaw5mGio to Nats for Cole, Norris, Peacock, and Milone. Love this for Oakland. Wow, uh, that is a lot. Especially since I could easily see Gio turning into Oliver Perez 2.0.
Built Ford Tough
Wow, uh, that is a lot. Especially since I could easily see Gio turning into Oliver Perez 2.0. Glad that the Jays didn't make a move for him. He is a good pitcher, but is definitely not worth the demand for him. Him picthing is perhaps the most pitcher friendly stadium in the league made him look better than he actually is. He is a good pitcher, but I don't see him being more than a good/average number 2 or great number 3.
Phightins
Carlos Zambrano to the Marlins. Interesting move. All hinges on how much money they are on the hook for. I'd imagine a lot
Phightins
The Cubs/Red Sox/Padres love triangle strikes again. Anthony Rizzo and Zach Cates to the Cubs for Andrew Cashner and Kyung-Min Na. Quite predictable that Theo would get Rizzo back at some point.
Phightins
Sometimes, it is really hard for me to fathom how dumb sports writers can be. It seems like I re-visit this topic most when the Hall of Fame vote is going on. It will be pretty shameful if Jeff Bagwell is not elected. IMO, he is the most obvious candidate of the past 5 years or so. Jon Heyman, quite possibly the biggest hack in the industry, has already unveiled his ballot, which does not include Bagwell, but does include Jack Morris. Seriously. Phightins
Ryan Madson signs with the Reds. Later MadDog, thanks for the good times. BTW, if he signed for significantly cheaper than Papelbon (still awaiting details, but I suspect he did), I will be very angry.
