Dash
Soon, the Miami Heat might have a basketball volunteer in Dalembert. The team desperately needs a center, and the 6-foot-11 Dalembert is a free agent. And the Heat is high on his list as the free agency signing period is expected to begin Dec. 9 following a five-month lockout. Joining the Heat “would be fantastic,” Dalembert said Sunday night from Haiti in an interview with FOX Sports Florida. Miami is where more than 50 of his relatives live and is about one hour south of his home in Boca Raton http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/11/28/dalembert-considering-heat-knicks-rockets/ Could be a decent signing if they can nab him with the "mini MLE". As for Houston being mentioned in the article, I'm pretty sure we're not interested.
fish7718
Would love to see him in the Orange and Blue, wouldn't really care if he was on the Heat. To me, offensive players get lost on the Heat, besides Wade and Bron. Saw multiple times last year were Miller, Bibby, Chalmers, even Bosh, got lost on the court. To me Dalembert would be a very small improvement over Joel Anthony, and it's only because Joel Anthony is so offensively inept that he actually hurts your offense as opposed to just not helping it. If Dalembert was a Knick he significantly improves the Knicks. The Knicks improves on offense, defense and rebounding. To have a center that can knock down a 12 footer in the fast paced offense will be great. Not to mention Dally is a great rebounder and thats our biggest need. Always wanted to see Dally as a Knick, hopefully Dolan makes it happen.

Abro
I don't see how this would only be only a "very small improvement over Joel Anthony" ... Dude is 6'11" instead of like 6'7" (I know he's listed as 6'9", but that's gotta be wrong), can rebound and can actually do something on offense as where Joel can't do anything in that area.. That's 3 big things that that he can immediately help the Heat with. Only way the two are comparable is in the shot blocking department. If he goes to the Heat other teams can't just leave the center all alone like they do with Joel because Dalembert actually knows what to do with the ball when he catches it. Which is another thing Anthony can't do is catch the ball. Don't get me wrong I love Anthony n all, but he is much better suited as a back-up center than a starting center. fish7718
To me as good as Dally is on defense, Joel is a bit better. Yes Dally may be a better rebounder and scorer, but do the heat need rebounding and scoring? They have Bosh Wade and LeBron...that's more rebounding and scoring than most teams have in their lineups. I think the Heat could be better off getting another center for the veteran minimum and adding a legitimate PG or another piece. Either I really don't think anything the Heat add can really improve their team, they are so good already and a lot of what they do is gonna depend on what Wade and LeBron do. Just don't see him as a large upgrade to the team, in terms of a player yes he is miles ahead of Anthony.
Built Ford Tough
The Heat don't need a true PG. All they need is a guy that can come in, hit open jumpers, play solid defense and initiate an offense. If Mario Chalmers was a bit better at getting the team into their offense immeidately, rather than simply handing the ball off to Wade or James, he would be perfect. Those two have the ball so often that it would be redundent to go out and get a true PG. A defensive anchor at center is clearly a more pressing need. Their inability to control the paint defensively is their biggest need. There is no point spending their MLE anywhere other than at the center position. Dalembert is the best fit, other than Tyson Chandler who would get more than the MLE unless he takes a huge paycut. A lineup of Chalmers/Wade/Bron/Bosh/Dalembert is easily good enough to win a championship and is definitely better than throwing out Anthony at center again. He is great as a backup in limited minutes, but he is not a starting calibre player. Chalmers isn't either on most teams, but you can get away with him starting at the point when you have two great playmaking wings in Wade and James beside him. Abro
Would rather have Nene.. But honestly, I think that is a pipe dream. So Dalembert is a good second choice. Haha
Flash
I'll definitely be glad to sign Dalembert. He's an improvement over Joel and being able to sign him with that mini MLE would be perfect. Also, Ric Bucher is reporting that Shane Battier is likely headed to Miami as well. That would be HUGE defensively for us.

Haha I think Dalembert is a better fit than Nene. Nene is obviously more talented offensively, but with James, Wade and Bosh, he won't get the touches needed to play up to his potential on that end of the floor. There just isn't enough ball to go around as even Bosh gets underutilized at times, and he is a much better offensive player than Nene. A lot of Nene's value is on the offensive end and his role on that team would basically be nothing more than an offensive rebounding, garbage man who gets the occasional post up. He would be very effective at it given his ability to finish around the rim, but I'd prefer what Dalembert brings over that, since he is better on the other end of the floor. Dalembert is more of a true center, is a better shot blocker, rebounder and is more suited to anchor a defense. The only other free agent big man that is a better fit for Miami, at least in my opinion, would be Tyson Chandler but that obviously won't be happening as he won't be signing for the MLE. Flash
Dalembert also lets us use Joel in spurts where IMO he's most effective. Having Udonis Haslem and Joel Anthony coming off your bench is definitely a plus for a defensive minded team like ours. I still think we need to find a backup 2 guard though. If one of the older guys is willing to take the veteran's minimum then hopefully we can get one.
Abro
Still need a bit of scoring off the bench.. Can't rely fully on the big 3 every possession.
