Free Agency - Knicks to target anyone?

Jeff Foster, Kwame Brown, Marquis Daniels, Reggie Evans.. kick tires on centers like Przybilla/Ratliff/Battie/etc.

With the ability to trade and sign another superstar this upcoming season/offseason, I can't imagine them giving out much more than 1 year deals to a few role players.

that would work for me too.

of course i don't want the knicks to sacrifice cap space (gotta find a way to get cp3 next summer) buuutttt we do need a center this season. absolutely need someone who get us 10 boards a get a 1-2bpg. would love tyson chandler but seems unrealistic. oden would be awesome, but way too big of a risk (i've seen the knicks take worse ones though). and nene is prob too expensive as well.

Knicks are not getting Chris Paul. Just read what Hollinger said..

Paul will make $16.4 million this year and would be opting out of $17.7 million in 2011-12. Should he opt out next summer, a new five-year contract with the Hornets would start at $17.177 million and pay him as much as $22.3 million by the end — a total of $98.8 million. In comparison, over the life of the maximum allowable four-year deal with the Knicks, he could get only $57.6 million.

No way Chris is willing to sacrifice 40 million to play for the Knicks, and they don't have the assets to do a sign and trade. Only reason we keep hearing this is because it's NYC.

The big 3 all left money on the table to go play with each other in Miami, plus this has been known and the rumors still persists. Who knows if the Knicks have the pieces, maybe Landry Shumpert and 2 firsts looks good next year...I think CP3 to NY is very valid considering I actually believe CP3 wants to be here, which is the most important thing.

LeBron was offered $126mill to stay in Cleveland, and opted for a 6yr/110mill in Miami. That's no where near what CP3 would be sacrificing.

That's a big IF in regards to Shumpert and Fields showing enough promise that would warrant them as being considered legitimate assets in a trade for the best PG in the game. Fields in particular struggled a lot after the Melo trade, and while I do believe he will bounce back and find his comfort zone, I don't think he will particularly shine in his limited role. I liked the Shumpert pick, he's a good defender that will benefit from playing in Dantoni's uptempo offense, but he's still going to be behind Billups the whole season.

And New Orleans will definitely want some picks in return for CP3 to accelerate the rebuilding process, and the Knicks have none.

I understand the interest is there on the part of Chris Paul, but this is a pipe dream.

Not at all, have you seen what NY has done for Amar'e. He was an after thought in Phoenix and now is one of my popular players in the league. CP3 is the exact type of guy who would make a shit load of money off endorsements alone due a huge increase in popularity just because he's going to be playing in NY.

Plus, how much money does one really need after they make their first 50 mil?

The logic for NBA players are much different, their salary obviously matters a lot to them, and CP3 knows he is able to receive a max contract. I just cannot see a superstar taking a $40 million paycut just to play in MSG.

Honestly, if you were CP3, would you rather play in MSG on that paycut, or play alongside Blake Griffin in LA on a max contract? If salaries played no role in all of this, the obvious answer is MSG, but that's just not the case here.

Any endorsement CP3 can potentially make in New York can be accomplished playing alongside NBA's poster boy in one of the largest markets in the league.

Do you have any idea what type of fame and accolades would go along with winning a championship with the Knicks...Chris Paul would receive instant GOAT status deserved or not...

Chris Paul is going to make 100+ mil in his career anyway no matter where he goes...

Knicks offered him a one year $5 million deal and he turned it down, they seem intent on preserving their cap space for 2012 and Hayes wants a long term deal. Can't see them working out a deal.
