Built Ford Tough
So he's young, didn't play well, but might get better. I guess you see something that I don't. He did play well during stretches, though. The entire month of November he looked like he had a solid future, especially since many considered him to be a project not capable of contributing right off the bat. I'm not saying that he is going to be a star or anything, but to write off a 21 year old point guard as a nothing player, who was considered a project to begin with, because of an up and down rookie season seems a bit rash. So you think he'll revert to '09/'10 form? Because career-wise, it was an anomaly. His last two relatively healthy seasons (55+ games) he averaged: 16/13/3 on 54 TS% in 2007-200819/9/1 on 53 TS% in 2009-2010 So one could argue that 09-10 wasn't an anomaly, he just managed to stay healthy. When he has been healthy, he has performed well over the past 4 seasons. Injuries have held him back from consistently producing. That is a valid concern, but I don't think that anybody should be concerned that a healthy Chris Kaman is only a 12/7 on sub 50% TS player. I am not saying it is not better than letting him walk for nothing. The Nets could offer Marshon Brooks and it would be better than letting him walk for nothing. But it's not a good offer for Paul, it's not the best offer they'll get, and it's not enough for the NBA owned Hornets to give him away. In this deal, the Hornets would get a maybe player in Bledsoe, a downgrade at center from Okafor to Kaman (while saving cash), an expiring contract, and a crapshoot draft pick that will likely be very early in the draft. Is that worth Chris Paul? Is that better than what other teams will offer? I think there is 0 chance a deal for Paul looks like this. The thing is, there are only about 3 other teams that Paul would even entertain going to. The Knicks, who have really nothing to offer after the Melo trade. The Lakers, who have Bynum and that is it.The Magic, who would only be interested in him if they re-sign Dwight and even then, have literally nothing of interest. That leaves the Clippers with what seemingly looks like the best offer (maybe he's willing to go to the Thunder for Westbrook or something), depending on your opinion of Bynum. Personally, I'd take the Wolves unprotected 1st over him since I think very, very highly of this draft. It isn't about what a team like, say, the Warriors can offer because Paul has to be willing to actually sign an extension with the team and he seems to be set on a small number of teams. AboveLegit
I think you're underrating Eric Bledsoe a little Kyle, yeah he had an average rookie season, but you gotta remember he had to transition BACK to the PG position. In college, he was playing off the ball alongside John Wall, making it that much more difficult to run an NBA style offense. If I'm the Clips, my first option is Chris Paul simply because I think Dwight will clog up the paint for Blake. Not to mention Deandre is still growing, with the addition of an elite PG like Paul, and I'm sure his game will elevate.
Sħãlïq™
Can somebody answer this question: Jordan is still a work in progress as he has been for years and he doesn't have near the skill set that Kaman does. Caveman is 75%+ ft shooter where DJ is lucky to hit 50%. He like Wilt and Shaq is so strong that he will never have the fine motor control to do it. He will always be 50%. We are hoping DJ DEVELOPS post moves CK has them. There are many things I'd love to develop but unfortunately nothing can really make it grow larger. CK has a mid range jumper. DJ can only score from point blank. If DJ gets the ball anywhere but in the paint he's worthless. He can't spread the floor. Certain teams shut DJ down. Baron and CK were developing a great chemistry. Paul is a facilitator with nothing to facilitate. Kaman is not as injury prone as people think. When he was out with a foot injury it was because he stepped on a camera man's foot, not a playing injury. A freak accident which could happen to anybody. Remember BG was out a whole season and I haven't heard "Injury prone" His second injury last year was the fault of the trainers letting him play too soon when his ankle was still weak. I pulled some stats and a lot of the slender big men (Garnet) get injured. The pt is, I'd trade DeAndre in a second and he and Mo' are my #1 "starter" pieces to go Howard could be a detriment with BG. Remember Duncan had a monster bank shot to compliment the Admiral. Neither of these two do. They'll clog the paint. Roy's knees are SHOT Priority 1. CP3 and keep EJ Priority 2 If possible get Caron Butler otherwise keep Gomer (12 ppg/4.5 boards) Except Butler no FA out there is signigantly better. Sħãlïq™
5 Things Knicks Fans Won’t Like About CP3: http://icine.org/imghost/image-3BF3_4ED6F375.jpg It is easy to dismiss the Clippers. They have been the subject of bad late night jokes for decades. They get no respect even in their own town. They always think big and crash hard. Kobe flirted with them for a while, and King James granted them an audience. Nothing came out of those two pursuits. The biggest free-agent signing in franchise history is Baron Davis, and that ended in disaster.http://icine.org/blogs/clippers/knicksandcp3/ Edited December 1, 2011 by Shãłïq
Teletopez
ChrisHi Alex. What do you think of this deal? Clippers get D-Howard, Bulls get E-Gordon, and Orlando gets Asik, Gibson, Kamen, and Charlotte’s 1st rounder. Alex KennedyIt’s great for the Clippers and Bulls, but I don’t think Orlando would agree to it. I think they’d much rather land Brook Lopez or Andrew Bynum. Also, from what I’ve heard, Dwight Howard isn’t interested in signing an extension with the Los Angeles Clippers. Full Chat
Sħãlïq™
I wonder how all this Howard talk is affecting DJ. Maybe he thinks management doesn't have too much faith in his potential and I worry that it will affect re-signing him. He's looking at going where the money is, where he's appreciated, and preferably close to home. Rockets just got a boost with all these rumors.
