Woj: Lakers close to sending Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom for Chris Paul

No offense, but Orlando would be [expletive]in retarded to take back Bynum and whatever else LA could offer them.

They are that stupid, cause thats the only thing the Lakers can offer and they are dumb enough to be interested apparently.

Houston is also stupid. They are the main reason this CP3 deal is going down and they have to give up draft picks, Scola, and Martin in return for Gasol who all the Lakers fans despise.

The Lakers put themselves into position to make these deals, and it helps that they have Kobe Bryant.

There is a salary cap, and all of these owners DO have the money to spend as long as they stay in the restricted area...most are just afraid they won't make any money off of these big deals.

When they drafted Drew in 2005, that helped assure them they would either have a legit big man, or have one to trade. Other teams could've done the same thing, but they didn't.

It's Kobe Bryant, and it's Los Angeles. Players want to be here, players want to play alongside a 5-time champion, and the Lakers know how to use expiring contracts and their bigs to bring in other players.

No need to be mad, but I expected it, nonetheless.

I thought there was no chance of LA getting CP3, and this was strictly off of what I thought was logical. Now I'm 100% certain Dwight is going to them as well. Smh.

No one, not one person can make a compelling argument stating that what the Hornets got was good... or even logical.

RT @JerryZgoda: CHayes' agent says Kings & Wolves favorites but Hou "begging" them to wait. "I think they've got something up their sleeve."

Ok cool for the Lakers, but I seriously wonder what the other teams in this trade are gaining. Its like they are purposely giving the Lakers another super team to go along with the Heat.

No offense but Odom and Gasol are not exactly the most valuable trade pieces, don't understand how the Hornets would want them in exchange for their star once in a lifetime player.

That's fine and all, the Lakers are known for their great management, but that doesn't dispute the fact that what they gave up isn't logical from the Hornets perspective. People have a good reason to be upset over this.

What's even worse is that the NBA owns the Hornets lol. After all the time we missed out on this year thanks to these "hardline, small market teams" they go out and basically giftwrap CP3 to the Lakers for next to nothing...I just don't get it. Same thing with Houston.

Lol, why do I feel like Heat fans were making these same type of posts last year? I have no issue with him going there, or even Dwight. Its just odd that these teams are handing these guys to LA when there are better deals to be made out there.

I'd put more of the blame on Dell Demps, the GM of the Hornets though, because ultimately it's up to him to accept the deal. He completely got raped in this deal.

Yeah he should be editing his resume as we speak but actually, I'm wondering more what the [expletive] Morey was thinking during this deal. They just gave up some really good players and a pick to get Pau Gasol and help a conference rival get Chris Paul. I just don't understand it.

Morey has to put together a playoff caliber team each season because that's what his owner, Les Alexander demands. Owner doesn't want to lose money in a season, and wants to keep profiting. Morey wants to blow it all up, but he just can't.

Since many asking, Marc Gasol is RFA, Mem would match. Hou still chasing Nene w extra cap room from deal. NY pick to NO. Hayes possible now.

Morey makes the trades though and I don't see how we get better by dealing 2 starters and a role player for a PF upgrade.

I am not hating on the Lakers at all, in fact good for them. The thing I am pissed about is how dumb these trades are. This is like a video game trade. How can the Hornets be satisfied with Lamar Odom? I mean they get good guys like Scola and KMart, but this is Chris Paul. Then the Rockets give up their whole team and a pick and they get Gasol, who can't lead a team anywhere.

Next is the Magic. They are going to give away the best defensive player in the league and probably the best center since Shaq for good old Andrew Bynum, who went out in grand fashion in the playoffs and who also can't lead a team anywhere.

Lakers are just robbing everyone. I don't understand why other NBA teams jump in to get Dwight before the Lakers get a team that can destroy them.

Now the rumor is that Okafor is headed to LA as well. Lol, wtf are these teams thinking?

Wow.

Edit: not seeing this anywhere.

They will definitely miss Martin's scoring, but replacing Scola with Pau is huge. You're bringing in a legitimate All Star now, and frees up time for Patt Patterson to develop. Courtney Lee also gets a chance to step up. You also free up space for Nene who appears to be on his way to Houston based off Morey trading the first rounder to free up more cap space.

How does trading next year's first mean we're getting more cap space and then Nene? Sounds like he's going back to Denver.

We also don't have any legitimate starting wings now.
