I don't think Houston is getting short end of the stick. Idea has been to get Gasol, clear cap space, and get Nene. Never been just about Gasol. They'd be getting good value if they got both of those guys. Houston is pushing hard to re-engage talks. Whether they can get this done, remains to be seen. It will be on Houston to add young talent to the mix and make it approvable to Stern and his cronies. If no Gasol, they have no cap space for Nene. This deal has a trickle down effect for Houston which is why they are pushing to get a deal done. .... I dont understand the argument for keep Paul in New Orleans. The story everyday will be where is Chris Paul going?

So the Rockets have to carry the Lakers again in this revised deal?

Patterson isn't replaceable, probably is the best asset Houston has.

Truth be told anyone i fell anyone is replaceable and tradable for the Rockets even Lowry if you can get the right player. I really don't want them to trade Patterson but if it happens it is what it is plus the Rockets still have Morris and there are nice PF's and other good prospects in the draft.

I wasn't a big fan of this in the first place, unless Howard was coming in a 2nd deal.

But at this point LA almost has to go through with it. Odom is too mentaly fragile to stay in LA. I hate to lose Gasol because he's LA's most consistent big.

I was surprised yesterday when Houston agreed to include Martin. I would have thought that the point of getting Gasol was to pair him with K-Mart.

This may be a stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway...

Would Laker fans rather see a trade for Chris Paul while giving up Gasol, or a trade acquiring Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Goran Dragic, and a draft pick for Gasol? That is essentially what Houston is giving up in the original deal.

Terms of 3-team deal that would send Chris Paul to Lakers still being discussed. The deal "still has a chance," one of the parties said.

NEW ORLEANS — Phil Jackson has said it before, so he said it again: He isn’t confident about the Hornets’ long-term viability in New Orleans.

“I don’t know if New Orleans can support a team,” Jackson said.

The Hornets had their second sellout of the season Wednesday with the Lakers in town, drawing a season-high 18,018 in New Orleans’ 17th home game of the season (13-4). The franchise was recently bought by the NBA, which prompted Jackson to say: “Not happy about that.”

Jackson put forth a scenario where Hornets star Chris Paul might revive his demand for a trade, and Jackson wondered how the league could manage being the one deciding which other franchise would get Paul.

“Who’s going to pull the button on it?” Jackson asked. “When Chris says he has to be traded, how’s that going to go? … Someone’s going to have to make a very nonjudgmental decision on that part that’s not going to irritate anyone else in the league.”

Orlando PR man Joel Glass calls to inform that D. Howard's agent now has permission to speak w/ Lakers, Nets, & Mavs about possible trade.

The primary work on deal has been between Lakers and Hornets sides, sources say. Rockets still get Gasol, still move same parts. Odom to NO.

Which means Houston isn't adding much more to their package. I'm happy.

So Lakers are giving the Rockets the 29th pick in the next draft or two so they move all the young assets necessary to make a deal? [expletive] that.
