Hornets general manager Dell Demps, according to sources, had been told by the league to focus on acquiring either younger players (Martin is 29, Scola is 31, and Odom is 32) or more draft picks in order to help the Hornets build for the future. A source said the Lakers might have given up a first-round draft pick in the deal as well, but the details were not immediately available

Should I be concerned with Pau not wanting play here?

The New Orleans Hornets' three-team trade with the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets that would land Chris Paul in L.A. has been resubmitted to the league office for approval, according to sources close to the talks.

The Rockets' part of the trade is exactly the same, with Houston sending Luis Scola, Kevin Martin and a 2012 first-round draft pick to New Orleans, while receiving Pau Gasol from the Lakers.

The rest of the specific changes to the original trade scenario were not immediately available, but sources told ESPN.com that a reconfigured trade has been presented by the league-owned Hornets to NBA commissioner David Stern in hopes that he'll approve this construction after vetoing Thursday's trade in principle.

Rockets will have changes to their part of proposed 3-way deal, league sources tell Y! Sports. They'd be sending more players to Hornets.

seems like houston really wants pau...

if im LA i just screw the three way deal and trade with houston. we can probably get lowry, scola, and martin back for pau, maybe even have them throw in patterson or lee. pursue dwight howard and deal odom separately for a backup forward or something. i think this is a better scenario than depleting our entire front court for a PG with knee problems.

my opinion will probably be in the minority of laker fans though.
