Teletopez
johnhollinger John HollingerAny exception created by dealing Odom isn’t big enough to take in Turkoglu. I’m not seeing LA’s endgame here, nor why Dallas would help.
Dash
Houston was giving up everything in this deal, glad Morey didn't cave in like Stern/Lakers were hoping. Anyways our offseason plans are officially [expletive]ed. Thanks Stern.
Teletopez
I don't understand this. Cuban would be aware that he's assisting L.A. in acquiring Dwight in the process of his efforts to secure Deron (which wouldn't even be ensured when you have Nene potentially signing with Jersey). Owner Real Deal Posted December 11, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted December 11, 2011 What is Hollinger talking about? Does he not understand how we're using the exception?

Teletopez
Mike_Bresnahan Mike BresnahanSource confirms that Odom is gone “for sure,” and Paul trade has fallen apart. Not for Howard, either. Source: It’s a straight salary dump.
GamerGuy
I don't buy it being just a salary dump. Buss and Buss Jr. have no problem dishing out the money to keep us as contenders, and they wouldn't trade away Lamar unless we had something big lined up. ?QuestionMark?
Yeah this just makes no sense. The Trade X they just got for Odom doesn't help they take Turk's contract. If they wanted to go after Howard, a Howard + Hedo for Bynum + Odom would have worked. Only rationale is that LA is acquiring picks for Paul and trying again w/o Houston. Or just Bynum + Dallas's picks for Dwight. Hopefully Mitch knows what he's doing because this is a head scratcher.
Teletopez
I'm going to guess that there's a possibility L.A. dives back into the Paul talks.

Lkr
@sam_amick Sam AmickChris Paul joining Blake & Clips (potentially). Dwight Howard with Kobe & Lake-show (potentially). Yeah, I'd be in LA a lot.

Dash
Morey should just deal for Chris Paul directly, Stern probably only wanted so many assets from us because Paul was ending up in LA. Doubt many teams object if Houston were to land him.

?QuestionMark?
The NBA has taken complete control of the Hornets front office and left general manager Dell Demps and coach Monty Williams without a deal that they wanted to make for Paul. The Hornets have been left in an impossible predicament by commissioner David Stern, who has positioned himself as basketball czar of the Hornets. In his desire to keep the All-Star point guard on the roster to maximize the league’s selling price of the team to potential owners, Stern has shot down two deals to send Paul to the Lakers. Now, teams are leery of entering into trade talks for Paul with the Hornets basketball executives, and this could collectively cripple the franchise’s ability to get maximum value for Paul. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-wojnarowski_lakers_out_of_paul_trade_talks_121011 [expletive] you, Stern. Built Ford Tough
The Lakers also got a 1st from the Mavs for Odom. You know damn well that pick and the subsequent TPE from the trade is going to be used in an attempt to land Howard. They can't take on Turkoglu's contract since the TPE is only for $8.9M, but they can easily take on somebody like JJ Redick with this TPE and, say, Chris Duhon with the one from the Vujacic trade. So say the Lakers offer Bynum, Mavs 1st and a future 1st of their own for Howard. Then they use their TPE's to take on some of the undersireable contracts of the Magic. It isn't a fantastic return by any means, but it is suddenly looking very comparable to what the Nets can offer. Although the Nets can afford to take on Hedo's deal. But Stern and the rest of the NBA just screwed LA out of getting both CP3 and D12. The rest of the owners shit their diapers at that thought and decided to get into Stern's ear. If LA does get D12 I'm a bit concerned about keeping him long-term. Yeah LA is attractive, but not long-term with an old Kobe, no Odom, and 31 year old Gasol.
