So is this how the NBA works?

This "small market" vs "big market" shit is just what it is: shit. Look at the NFL for example; who are the best teams in the NFL? Oh look, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore. What is so big market about those towns? Nothing really. However, they are the best run teams in the NFL by FAR. Let's look at the "big market" NBA teams: the Lakers, Celtics, Knicks, and Bulls. The Bulls had 15 years of relevancy. Before Jordan, they were nothing, and until Derrick Rose, they were poorly run. The Knicks just throw money around and haven't been able to build a team. The Celtics had a nice approximate 20 years of mediocrity. The Lakers are the only team that seems to be well run. Other teams in the NBA that I'd say have been well run over history are the Jazz, Blazers, and Thunder/Sonics. Those are all SMALL MARKET teams. Hell, by definition, the Clippers are big market, but they are worse than being classified as poorly run. So what seems to be going on in the league? The punishment of teams that are WELL RUN. Abovelegit nicely pointed out on twitter last night that Dan Gilbert had 7 years to build a winner around the most naturally talented and overall basketball player that the world has seen since Michael Jordan. The best he could do was throw together a team that got swept in the Finals. He has money, he has no reason to complain about being a small market. His arena was sold out every night with LeBron on the team. It seems the other owners are upset that the Buss family knows how to run a business and they do not. It is the NBA's version of Occupy Wall Street.

Anyone else think this is entertaining? Im pissed we arent getting CP3 but at the same time we already had a great team and can still make more moves. The aftermath of this is going to get really ugly, and exciting.

December 8th: the day Stern came through and ensured parity is at least being ATTEMPTED to be achieved. I applaud him.

This isn't how it should work though. The trade was legal, there's no basis for the veto at all. This NBA isn't supposed to run under some socialist principle like that. Not everyone is going to be the same.

You're damn right this is how it works now. Don't you realize I run this shit? David who? You think you big name, big city, well run teams can just make all the right moves to contend every year? I don't think so buddy. That's not how it works anymore.
