Dash
No surprise with Rick Adelman as their head coach. CDub1532 Cody Wirth@JerryZgoda According to a guy i know that has sources. We are offering Wes, Ridnour, and Pek/Darko for KevMart and low salary player3 hours ago DarrenWolfson Darren WolfsonBelieve R.J. Adelman is figuring out what it'll take. Dad would like him. RT @RennyRen21 @DarrenWolfson what's the latest on K-Mart/Wolves? JerryZgoda Jerry Zgoda@JCSandbakken Adelman likes him from coaching him in Houston, so possible but I wouldn't call it likely by any means... JerryZgoda Jerry Zgoda@bphof21 Wes and other pieces probably. Rockets really want a top-grade big man but Wolves got nothing to give in that area... Would love to pick up Wesley Johnson if we were rebuilding, no interest at all in Ridnour and we could have some use for Pekovic or Darko. Anthony Randolph was impressive late last season and the Rockets' have shown interest in him before. However, if Houston is looking to make the playoffs then I don't think they go for it. Still an intriguing package and one worth considering. Edited December 12, 2011 by Dash
YugoRocketsFan
Id consider this if we got Marc Gasol.
Owner Real Deal Posted December 12, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted December 12, 2011 You like Wesley Johnson?
Dash
You like Wesley Johnson? What's not to like besides his age? From what I've seen Wes is solid and was misused by Rambis all of last season. Good shooter, a good defender, a good teammate...well rounded player. He's better than Budinger at least. Dash
He's definitely not better than C-Bud Bud is more athletic and the slightly better shooter (don't let the statistics fool you, Wes can shoot) but Wes Johnson is more balanced and brings some defense/rebounder, which is what we need on this team. Also if we get Marc Gasol, I'd be more inclined to keep Martin. Lowry/Martin/Bud/Scola/Gasol is a nice starting lineup.

If we trade away Martin we can start Courtney Lee who is the much better ballhandler, playmaker, and defender.

True but to be a threat in the playoffs we need a perimeter player who can explode for 20+ points a game to compliment Gasol/Scola, Lowry is nice but not even close to the scorer Martin is. If we got Gasol then I could see Houston doing the same thing they did last year, which was play Martin for about 30 minutes and then Lee gets the rest of the PT. I would love to deal Budinger for a defender to help balance out that lineup. Edited December 12, 2011 by Dash

Good shooter, a good defender, a good teammate...well rounded player. He's better than Budinger at least.Agreed, Boheim used him a lot coming off screens and cutting to the hoop at Syracuse, while in Minnesota, Rambis forced him to create for himself. I kind of don't want him to be apart of this deal simply because I want to see how he plays now with a good isolation scorer in Derrick Williams. And I don't like the fit in Houston because he would fall into the same situation he was in last season. I don't expect McHale to use him the way Rambis did but he would still be surrounded by teammates who can't create their own shot effectively. I do like that Houston is bringing in some young talent though. They could have a nucleus of quality young players on their hands with possibly Marc Gasol, Kyle Lowry, and Patt Patterson. Dash
I don't know what the offense is going to end up looking like exactly but word is that we're keeping much of Adelman's offense. This is why the Rockets promoted Chris Finch to be McHale's offensive coordinator because he's been running the same offense down in the D-League for two years and won a championship while he was at it too. Also if the Wolves do end up keeping Wes, I'm really looking forward to seeing how he does in Adelman's offense.
