Built Ford Tough
Eric__Smith Eric Smith Casey: right now...leaning towards Calderon as his starter cuz he likes Bayless' spark off the bench. BUT that COULD change #Raptors #SN590 Eric__Smith Eric Smith Bayless: I love Toronto. There is no PG controversy. I'll start or come off the bench. Doesn't matter. NO controversy. #SN590 #Raptors After seeing how well Bayless played as a starter down the stretch last season and knowing that Calderon is better off of the bench I was hoping that Bayless would be the starter, but knew that it was unlikely. I wouldn't mind it too much but the part about liking Bayless' spark off of the bench worries me a bit. I hope that they don't plan on using him in the Barbosa or Terry role as purely a scorer off of the bench. As far as I am concerned, it is too early in his career to give up on him as a point guard and there is no better season than this one to give him an extended shot at it. We will see how things play out, though. There is no point in jumping to conclusions about roles and all that without knowing anything concrete. Check my Stats
I still think he has potential as a starting point guard in this league, he just needs to be given a shot. He will get that shot when Jose inevitably goes down for an extended stretch this year, especially considering the condensed schedule. I also think he has potential defensively; obviously he is way too aggressive right now, but again, the physical tools are there, and he just needs time no the floor to improve. I am a big fan of Bayless, and we need to know what we have with him sooner or later, so soon it will be time to throw him to the wolves and see how it goes IMO.. because soon we will have to decide if we are going to have him here long term or not. headliner
I’m not a fan of Calderon but he is a better floor general then Bayless. Most likely Bayless will out play Calderon defensively and offensively so to it doesn’t matter who starts at the beginning of the season because injury happens and players lose their starting job throughout the season.
