NomarFachix
BLOCK: And what are the causes of an aortic tear? Dr. EWY: Well, there are certain inherited conditions that weaken the aorta, and it runs in families. And then there's also conditions like atherosclerosis or high blood pressure that contribute to it. BLOCK: Mmm. And would this be something that comes on suddenly, or would it be gradually building up over time? Dr. EWY: Well, it can be very sudden. I mean, you can rapture, tear and leak out into various parts of the body very quickly.

ChosenOne
Ouch this sucks for both the Celtics and him. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and is able to get back on the floor next year.
Built Ford Tough
Torn aorta. Likely to make a full recovery, able to play again. Wasn't it an aortic aneurysm that they found, not a tear? If that is the case, Green is very lucky that they found it early. If they didn't find it and he continued to have it go untreated, it could burst at any moment, and the chances of surviving that, should it happen, is something like 10-25%. If it were to burst, he could easily just bleed out and die within minutes. Very fortunate that they found it and were able to operate on it early. This could easily have saved his life.
