Owner Real Deal Posted December 22, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted December 22, 2011 I'm curious...should I let you guys (all members) create the topics each day, or should I create all 1,230 of them before Christmas? The thing is, I need a few of you to move them each day, regardless of what I do. I can trust a lot of you to create them, but giving that right to more than one person could make things a little more complicated. It wouldn't take me THAT long to create them. I use Excel, import the schedule, and then fill in defaults for topic and post rows in the database. HOWEVER, the one bad thing about this is that the "date created" will all show up as tomorrow (or whenever I do it)...which means that, once I move the topics into the home team's forum, they will fall out of view, unless they have posts in them. So... a) create all 1,230 topics soon, rely on a few of you to move them each day, and hope that each gets at least one postb) have you guys create all of the topics, each day, move them, etc Let me know what you think. ------------------- Also, I'm not sure how much support this would get...but one gameday topic per day, week, month or even season...I'd consider, but I'm not sure how much activity we're going to get in every team forum, and part of the reason why I create all of those gameday topics is to "bump" these team forums with content. If we had more activity, I think I'd reconsider.
Art
I'll create the topics for the Hornets and If need be I have no problem moving those.
Built Ford Tough
I'd be willing to move them. Honestly, I think it would be best if you created them all like you have over the past two seasons, assuming it isn't too much trouble for you. I am sure that we will get at least 1 post in each game thread and even if we don't, it is easy to post a quick recap from something like ESPN, CBS, NBA etc... that will ensure that it isn't lost once the thread is moved. Having members make them on the day could get a bit messy and unorganized. It also create a much higher chance of games getting no threads at all. At least, that is my thoughts on the matter. AboveLegit
I like the way you have always done it with creating all 1230 game threads. I think by letting others create the threads, we'll see less motivation from posters to create them because they just aren't interested in posting in a thread by themselves. If you create all of them, at least it is already there. I agree that 50% of game threads don't get any activity at all, but it's what separates OTR from other forums. I have not seen a forum do what we have been doing for the past few years.
fish7718
Is there a reason gameday topics don't show up in new content? Can we fix that? I do remember the day I signed and there were 1000+ new topics but a lot of times i forget about gameday topics because they aren't showing up in new content until they get moved to team forums.
