Dash
These refs must secretly be Lakers fans. Have to be.
Built Ford Tough
That doesn't look good for Courtney Lee. He wasn't putting any weight on his right foot and with the way that injury happened (nobody being near him and it just came out of nowhere like that as he went to run) you can't help but think it may be an achillies injury, which would be absolutely terrible. Hopefully both myself and the Lakers commentators, who said the same thing, are wrong and he just cramped up or something and it isn't a serious injury such as an achillies. Dash
Patterson's shot is way off, understandable considering that this is just his third game coming off of surgery. Good to see him being aggressive.

Dash
2 excellent possessions by Kyle Lowry. This is exactly why I think he's a top 4 point guard in the West.
YugoRocketsFan
Down 10, and we get a quick 3, plus 3 point play. I like our aggressiveness
Dash
Should be the dagger there by Kobe. Rockets had him well guarded in the last three possessions but Kobe still managed to get a bucket plus a foul on two of them.

YugoRocketsFan
We did pretty good considering all calls went for the Lakers and nothing went right for us.

Dash
We did pretty good considering all calls went for the Lakers and nothing went right for us. Rockets - 7 free throwsLakers - 25 free throws Yeah, not hard to figure out why we lost.
Owner Real Deal Posted January 4, 2012 Author Owner Report Share Posted January 4, 2012 Play defense correctly, instead of being the 9th worst team in the NBA on that side of the court, and you guys won't pick up so many fouls.
GamerGuy
Bynum is finally earning his paycheck...loving it. Kobe with a nice bounce back game too, which is great to see. McRoberts didn't play tonight I noticed...I think Mike Brown is just giving him rest after playing a lot during the first 5 games of the season. Good to see that he's managing minutes for everyone to keep them fresh.

Is that why Kobe picked up that shooting foul in the third when he pumped faked and then bumped into Lee when he fell for it? Pretty sure they just made a rule against that. Also why weren't we get ANY calls when we drove the ball to the basket and forced at least a bit of contact? And then the Lakers go back, do the exact same thing and get the call? Bill Worrell said at the beginning of the game that two of the three refs tonight were the least experienced in the NBA and that showed. I usually don't complain about refs either but God they were awful tonight.

Pretty sure they just made a rule against that. That's not a "rip-through" move. http://www.otrbasketball.com/forums/topic/25602-nba-alters-emphasis-on-shooting-fouls Also why weren't we get ANY calls when we drove the ball to the basket and forced at least a bit of contact? And then the Lakers go back, do the exact same thing and get the call? You guys attempted 31 threes, a third of your shot attempts. K-Mart was missing open shots, and that included seven missed threes. Did you see Houston's shot chart? It hasn't been updated yet, but it's near the end of the game: http://i43.tinypic.com/ru8ex3.gif You guys are making it sound like Kobe racked up 20 free throw attempts. It's going to suck playing Miami and the Thunder, I see.

You guys attempted 31 threes, a third of your shot attempts. K-Mart was missing open shots, and that included seven missed threes. Did you see Houston's shot chart? It hasn't been updated yet, but it's near the end of the game: http://i43.tinypic.com/ru8ex3.gif We got the hint from the refs early on that we weren't going to get shit from them so we were forced to jack up jumpers. When the Rockets did drive it in and forced contact we got nothing. You guys are making it sound like Kobe racked up 20 free throw attempts. It's going to suck playing Miami and the Thunder, I see. I don't think anyone ever said it was Kobe getting all the calls, just the Lakers in general.
Dash
And, fortunately, I was wrong. Just a strained calf muscle. Good news for the Rockets and Lee. Update on Lee's injury: @RocketsJCFJason Friedman Lee on his strained calf: says some able to come back in day or two so shouldn't be out too long. Unrelated to camp injury issue, btw. So he's out for the Clippers game for sure (pretty much a given), tough loss but this might mean some more time for Terrence Williams at the 2 with Chandler Parsons at the 3. Dash
Anyways I'm over the refs, we lost for a number of different reasons. -Martin played like garbage. Seriously it looked like he was finally back after the Atlanta game but he was useless.-Scola at the 5? McHale's small ball worked in the 2nd quarter but eventually Luis Scola playing center and guarding Andrew Bynum wasn't going to work out so well. -Jacking up three. Yes, we weren't getting any calls but at least try to be aggressive or find better shots instead of giving up and jacking long bombs. -We didn't utilize the pick and roll enough in the 4th quarter, it was working beautifully in the first three quarters. -Our starting lineup can't play defense, this has been known before the season even started. Martin/Scola/Bud can't be on the floor together for long. -More Samuel Dalembert time would have been useful, Jordan Hill was useless against the Lakers monster frontline. -Somebody help out Lowry! Sometimes it felt like he was the only Rocket playing.-Crash the boards, Lowry had 10 rebounds and the next leading rebounder was Luis Scola/Dalembert/Lee with 5 rebounds apiece. AboveLegit
Good game from Kobe, he put up great numbers, but his shot selection still bugs me. I understand the Rockets were packing the paint and forcing Bynum and Gasol to kick it out, but there's no reason for Kobe to be taking those deep fadeaways and insisting on isolation plays late in the game. However he did get to the line last night and didn't jack up a lot of shots early in the shot clock which is an improvement from previous games.
