Sħãlïq™
Game #22, LAC @ ORL 107-102, (15-7, 2nd West)Clippers Lose Chauncey, Win OT Battle in Orlando http://www.latimes.com/media/photo/2012-02/67898250.jpgChris Paul scored 29 points (3-3 3PT, 8-8 FT), along with eight assists, and seven rebounds. Blake Griffin added 18 points and 10 rebounds (14th double-double this season) to help the Clippers outlast the Magic 107-102 in overtime Monday night. Chauncey Billups had 18 points (five 3-pointers) before leaving with an injury to his lower left leg in the fourth quarter. Butler had 14 points, 11 in the second half and overtime. NOTES:The Clippers keep coming together, no matter the adversity or how many pieces enter or exit the lineup. Faced with an early 15-point deficit and the loss of veteran leader Chauncey Billups to a left Achilles injury, L.A. battled back to beat the Orlando Magic, 107-102, in overtime at Amway Center. Point guard Chris Paul took command of the game in the second half and overtime and Caron Butler dropped in four of his final six shots to overtake the Magic (15-10). It’s the first time the Clippers (15-7) have won in Orlando since February 2006. No shots were bigger than the final three field goals of the night. With the Magic up by four, Butler canned a jumper from the right baseline after ball-faking a hard closing J.J. Redick at the 3-point line. Then Paul swiped the ball away from Glen Davis, received a pass up court from Mo Williams, and threw a crosscourt pass to a trailing Butler for a 3-pointer from the left wing. Paul essentially sealed the win on the next possession with a brilliant step-back jumper on the over the outstretched right arm of fellow superstar Dwight Howard. The Clippers held Howard to just eight points over the last 29 minutes of the game. And while the Magic center finished with a game-high 33 points and 14 rebounds, DeAndre Jordan and forward Reggie Evans battled him admirably. Both Clipper big men fouled out in overtime, but not before combining for 17 rebounds (10 offensive). The Clippers finished with 46-37 advantage on the glass and it was rebounding, as much as Butler and Paul’s shooting, that saved them in the end. Evans ripped down a key defensive board with Ryan Anderson and Redick in better position. And Ryan Gomes and Butler corralled offensive rebounds in the final minute of overtime after misses by Butler and Paul. Butler stole the ball from Richardson on the Magic’s second-to-last possession in regulation, leading to two free throw attempts for Griffin, who had made his first five, as he was fouled by Nelson on a breakaway. Griffin made the first, but missed the second. And Nelson missed a fadeaway over Jordan on the other end as the fourth quarter expired. Griffin, a 48.6% free throw shooter on the year, finished 6-of-7 from the line. The Clippers broke “Lawler’s Law” for the first time this season: they trailed 96-100 in overtime and came back to win 107-102!It’s the third time the Clippers have ended a losing streak of nine games or longer against an opponent in the last eight days: They snapped a 9-game losing streak in Denver on Jan. 29th, and a 16-game losing streak at Utah on Feb. 1st…

Sħãlïq™
BLAKE GRIFFIN LEADS LIST OF PLAYERS FOR 2012 RISING STARS CHALLENGEhttp://www.nba.com/clippers/photos/rising-670-120208.jpgLos Angeles Clippers forward and reigning Rookie of the Year Blake Griffin leads a list of 18 players selected for the 2012 BBVA Rising Stars Challenge to be held on Friday, Feb. 24 in Orlando during NBA All-Star 2012. The Clippers current leading scorer, Griffin was named an All-Star starter last week along with teammate Chris Paul and will be making his second appearance in the Rising Stars Challenge after playing for the Rookie Team last season. Griffin played on the rookie team during last year’s game and scored 14 points and grabbed three rebounds in 13 minutes. Griffin played fewer minutes than any player in the game because he was also competing in the dunk contest and playing in the All-Star game. His minutes will likely be limited again this year regardless of his participation in the dunk contest, as he is starting in this year’s All-Star game. A new format is being implemented for the game this year. Instead of having the rookies play the sophomores, both groups will be mixed on teams. Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal will serve as the general managers of the opposing teams, each with nine-man rosters, drafted from the aforementioned pool.
