Art
“I’m not surprised (Dwight requested a trade),” said Lee. ”When they broke up the team in 2009, you could just see the frustration in Dwight’s face. We talked about it a couple of times and you could tell he was upset about it. ”Most franchise players are involved in the decision-making,” Lee added, “and Dwight’s feeling like he’s not involved. If you’re going to build around a player, you should communicate with that player and see who he’d like around him.” The Lakers defeated the Magic in five games, but Lee missed a layup in Game 2 that would evened the series at one. “It’s not like we got slaughtered in the Finals,” Lee said. “You’d have thought a team that went to the Finals would have stayed together. We got that far in 2009 and the next season we would have had another year’s worth of experience and playing together.” Read more:
?QuestionMark?
Sad part is Orlando's best trade chip was Courtney Lee and they wasted it on Vince Carter. Otis Smith pretty much shot himself in the foot. Orlando was also a victim of Stern buying the Hornets. As I recall, Orlando was really close to making a Jameer Nelson for Chris Paul deal when Shinn was looking to sell the Hornets. Then the NBA bought the franchise and pretty much killed that deal. Tough luck for Orlando.
Check my Stats
Vince was fresh off a 21 PPG 5 REB and 4AST season, and was a borderline all-star.. at the time, Orlando stole that deal. Sorry to Lee, and don't get me wrong i love the kid's game, but he was/is a role player, and Vince was a borderline all-star at the time. Nets trade VC, then go 12-70, hmmm. At the time, Orlando made the right choice, hindsight is 20-20 of course, but even to this day, you take VC for that package before you give Hedo 10M a year, hindsight or no hindsight (even though they managed to do BOTH lol)
Flash
Perfect example of an awful front office costing themselves a star. But its the big market teams who are killing the league http://www.otrbasketball.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif
