Dude is on top of the rap game right now. His album is gonna be incredible. Pretty awesome that a Miami guy is doing this much right now. MMG is right there with Young Money in terms of best label right now.

..he is?

He just put out maybe the best mixtape this year, his label is having the most successful year next to YMCMB and he's about to release his album so yeah I'd say he's on top right now.

I'm talking in terms of current success man. Obviously not an all time list lol. Dr. Dre hasn't done shit lately. If he'd just release Detox already..

The only people on that level right now are Jay, Yeezy and Drake.

1. Drake doesn't own a label lol.

2. Dr.Dre founded/runs Aftermath.

3. That wasn't an all time list, that was the past year.

4. I have no idea how you are defining "success"

On another note, this mixtape is pretty nice. I like it.

Ross' last release went what, gold? Mac Miller is more on top than Ricky right now, lol.

New year is 7 days old, long ways to go to be mixtape if the year.

lol dude please stop. rick ross is def one of the top [expletive]as in the game. been one of the most consistent since he dropped that albert antestia lp. when you got HOV & DRE reachin out to him saluting him for his success and how crazy this new tape is...you know he made it.

On top means #1, which he is not. That beef with Kreayshawn was tight though lol

#1? no. right now, i don't there is 5 rappers hotter than rick ross. seriously. say what you want about the guy, but he puts his music together real real well. rozay will do crazy numbers on his next album. i can guarantee that. having meek & wale on the label helps a lot, gives appeal to true lyrical fans (such as myself, who wasn't a big ross fan before) but ross has an ear for the best beats and has crazy good features on his songs. you know he's gonna get hov, john legend, wale, meek, etc. etc. for his upcoming album!!

I listen to anything that leaves me with permanent stinkface.. I think Jay-Z is super overrated, John Legend is a singer, Wale is meh.. Nas is a monster. Look at my post in the albums of the year thread, that's what I [expletive]ed with the most this past year. I don't like most of anything on the radio. I listen to a lot of underground. R.A. the Rugged Man is probably my #1.

Lmao those two words should never, ever be placed in the same sentence. Wale has his moments lyrically.

As for Ross, I've actually come acrossed relatively impressed the last year or so, at least as far as mainstream artists go. You don't get much versatility with his subject matter or flow/rhyme schemes, but because of that you always know you'll get at least a decent verse from him. He does choose pretty good producers and features. I'll actually give this a listen at some point.

BTW, Nas KILLS it in that song in the OP.

I know nitro u like guys with deep lyrics, like a talib kweli, nas, etc. but meek is good lyrically, he's just different. i know some people don't really like that rap but he's more punchline like a fab or wayne.

As far as Ross goes, i think people who give him a fair chance will come across impressed. his production and features are always on point, and he just has an ear for the best beats. teflon don is my favorite project from him, to me it was one of the best rap albums in recent years. honestly.

also, for the song "triple beam dreams...." yeah man. that's why i posted that song. that verse from nas is incredible from a lyrical stand point.

Was having a conversation with my boy about this the other day..honestly I'm getting tired of deep, lyrical rap. Going to college kinda made me realize that bitches don't give a shit about listening to music about the struggle and all that shit. Playing Mos Def, Talib or Common around a girl = you most likely aren't getting laid.

So, your musical preference is based on how girls react to what you're playing? That's [expletive]ing ridiculous.
