Owner Real Deal Posted January 12, 2012 Owner Report Share Posted January 12, 2012 Did we all forget about him? Did all of the GM's forget? I was thinking about this the other day. A few Lakers fans want Arenas, and I just don't see why. I have this gut feeling he's done as a starter, done as a sixth man, and at this point of his career, he's a chucking bench player who can't defend anyone on the court. Yeah, I saw what he did every now and then at the beginning of last season...doesn't matter to me. I saw him hurt Washington more than help. Orlando? He was horrible. His 2009-10 season (where he tried to return) was 20+ points a night for about 30 games or so, but he shot the ball poorly and looked bad trying to create shots on his own. Right now, what teams should give Arenas a shot, if any at all? Keep in mind...he's a free agent, so he can be had for cheap now.
AboveLegit
None, he needs the ball in order to be effective, he doesn't have the lift he used to, doesn't have that quick first step we saw in Washington, cannot penetrate, and is too one dimensional now to effect the game in other areas. There's a reason why Orlando is paying him $62 million to sit at home.

Check my Stats
No one should have given him a chance ever. Arguably my least favourite player of all time, so bad.
TheNotoriousBANG
he'd be great in NYsince coach D'Antonio loves Shooters
SRT Spidey
Celtics. Dooling and Avery Bradely. Nuff said
TheNotoriousBANG
if Joel Anthony can start on a NBA team, than no way should Arenas not be playing on a NBA team I know their different positions and all that but my logic applies
Teletopez
Old tweet, but: Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine So no cap-room teams chose to bid on Arenas and he's free to negotiate w/anyone. Told he hopes to land on same team that trades for Dwight
Mentch
None of them, theres a reason he still hasnt been signed yet. If a guy goes out with injury then I can see a team signing him but not until then
Nitro
He's a low-risk, mild-reward signing. He'll probably go wherever at the vet minimum, so it's not like you're risking a whole lot to sign him. The Celtics could definitely use some offensive firepower, and Arenas can offer that spark from time to time. The Knicks have little backcourt talent, and in D'Antoni's system he could actually have a chance to shine as much as his knee will allow. You could give him some of Fisher/Blake's minutes at PG for the Lakers if they don't plan on filling that void elsewhere through trade. With Maynor out for the season, the Thunder could use him for depth at the PG position. And the Bulls could use another scoring punch off their bench, which is pretty offensively challenged. So, yes, I do think a few teams could definitely use his services in ideally a limited backup role.
JYD
Wouldn't call him a low risk signing...he's a jackass.
Nitro
Wouldn't call him a low risk signing...he's a jackass. So? If he causes problems, he can ride the bench. if he causes a LOT of problems, at that price, he can be easily waived without doing much damage.
