fish7718
Unfortunately, I'm a Nets fan. If there was any way I could argue Lopez being the better offensive player than those guys I mentioned you bet your ass I would. But I just can't. Though, I expected you would call him a better offensive player than Dwight, your hate for that guy always shows itself.I honestly don't hate him, just think he's over rated, I have nothing against him he seems like a fun guy on and off the court. Although he did pull some bitch shit this monday getting in Harrelsons face cause he was mad, but my dude jeffries shot him down Edited January 20, 2012 by Z True Long Island Story
Nitro
I honestly don't hate him, just think he's over rated, I have nothing against him he seems like a fun guy on and off the court. Although he did pull some bitch shit this monday getting in Harrelsons face cause he was mad, but my dude jeffries shot him down The issue is you think he's so overrated that you start to really underrate him...basically the opposite of what I see from people and their views of Luol Deng. Bottom line is the dude gets 20PPG+ on amazing efficiency, draws more fouls than any player in the league, grabs 16 boards, and is by FAR the best defensive player in the league (how he makes the Magic a top 5 defense every single year is a [expletive]in miracle). He's proven he can be the #1 guy on a Finals team, and he's gotten better since then. I really don't see how you can think he's that overrated, and I don't understand how someone can rank him any worse than being the 4th best player in the league. I think he could go as high as #2, depending on how you rank players.
Owner Real Deal Posted January 20, 2012 Owner Report Share Posted January 20, 2012 I've understood how people can talk trash on Dwight's lack of post moves, but it's hard to argue that the guy is not a good offensive player. He's really a very good one. If teams don't double down on him, he's under the rim, and that's an automatic two points. He may not be a traditional back-to-the-basket player, but Howard will act like a truck and back your ass into the paint. And if he doesn't get his way doing that, he can face up and get his buckets. A lot of Lakers fans prefer Drew to Howard, offensively...but I've always wanted Howard, simply because he draws more defensive attention than Bynum, and while he has had trouble with turnovers, he is still aware of his surroundings, while Bynum has a tendency to just try and score the bucket, regardless. YugoRocketsFan
Once Bynum is deep in the post its pretty hard to stop him, Dwight still looks awkward when taking any kind of shot at all, hes just a super athlete who happens to be good at blocking shots and rebounding.
Mentch
So did Dwight Howard just drop off the face of the earth? What about amar'e? Shaq doesn't know what he's talking about

Exactly as his athleticism declines his numbers will decline drastically unless he develops a legit post game that Andrew Bynum and Al Jefferson already are developing. DunkinDerozan
This season Dwight is averaging 1.6 more offensive rebounds than Lopez did last season. And who cares? Offensive rebounding leads to very high percentage shots, which is effective offense. It's like negating LeBron's scoring ability because he's a freak athlete who thrives in transition. And besides, Lopez plays too far away from the rim too often for my liking. Yes, he's got more versatility scoring the ball, but Howard shoots like 8% better from the field, is more unstoppable in the post, and he gets to the line double the amount as Lopez does, which puts a huge amount of pressure on the opposing team's frontcourt. And there is no way Lopez is a better offensive player than Bynum, either. If you consider Bargnani a C, he's not better than him, either. EDIT: Oh, Al Jefferson is also a better scorer, too. I completely forgot about Barg. Although I don't think he's the best offensive big man in the league I think he's probably top 3-5 this year. Before his injury he was carrying Toronto offensively by scoring from the perimeter, and ever driving and getting some nice layups. Before his injury he was averaging more PPG than Howard, Jefferson and Stoudemire.
FindingNeemo
Shaq makes statements based on who he likes/dislikes. Just how he refuses to give Chris Bosh any credit and said earlier in the year that Udonis Haslem was a better player. Never take any Shaq analysis seriously. Dwight Howard is better in nearly every category. Bynum has more polished moves, but Dwight still manages to score more effectively and at a higher percentage despite that small advantage so it doesn't really matter.
