We're only a quarter way through the regular season but it seems like the Thunder will likely finish with the best record in the West barring any major injuries. The Eastern Conference Finals showdown is all but set between the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat (although teams like Philadelphia and Indiana will give them some fits in the earlier rounds), but the West is still a mystery with the difference between the 2nd seed right now and the 8th being only two games. What team do you think is just behind (or possibly better) the Oklahoma City Thunder in the West?

The Clippers and only the Clippers unless the Lakers can get their shit together.

I wouldn't even say the Clippers. Fun to watch, but I doubt they'll be able to stop the Thunder in the playoffs.

I'd say Dallas, if Dirk's knee will be okay by then, because I still like Marion defending Durant. Although, I think OKC wins that series this time around.

The Lakers aren't doing a damn thing at this point, unless they make major adjustments to the offense, because it's obvious we can't run through Bynum.

Right now. No one.

Clippers live off their athleticism with running and playing above the rim. The Thunder would be able to match that very nicely with Ibaka and Perkins cleaning up the glass.

Lakers are terrible right now, and if they were to have a 7 game series right now it would be a sweep with Westbrook averaging 30ppg.

Dallas they just haven't got into the groove yet.

Portland, as much as i love this team they just would be able to get it done with Serge and Perkins troubling Aldridge.

I really, really like the Grizzlies if they can get healthy. Last season's squad was very close to defeating the Thunder, and if Rudy Gay can make the right adjustments when Randolph gets back, I think they will be even better.

If the Clippers trade one of their PG's for a legit SG and/or some depth, they could be scary. On paper, all of the pieces fit nicely, except Billups starting at SG. If they could balance out their roster, then the only reason they wouldn't have a realistic shot at the Thunder would be Vinny Del Negro.

The Lakers desperately need to make upgrades at the 1 and 3 positions and get more athletic. If they make one or both of those upgrades, they have a great shot at beating the Thunder.

The Blazers and Nuggets play an exciting, well-balanced brand of basketball with deep rosters, but I'm not sure either team has the #1 option necessary to win close playoff games against Durant.

No other team in the West has much of a chance.

The Thunder also only got to to the playoffs last year? or the year before correct me if I am wrong. Either way, the past doesn't mean anything.

Thunder lost a hard fought series against the eventual champs in 2010 ;)
