Art
http://i43.tinypic.com/2ew1dau.png Sources said Gordon wanted a maximum-money, four to five-year contract. But the Hornets and NBA, who currently owns the franchise, weren’t willing to offer him a four-year, $62 million deal.``We made good faith and amicable efforts to reach an agreement on a contract extension over the past few days," Dell Demps said in a statement released Thursday. ``Unfortunately, although close, we did not reach an agreement. Eric will be a restricted free agent this summer and we are optimistic and encouraged with the opportunity to sign Eric to a contract that will make him a member of the Hornets organization and community for years to come." New Orleans Times-Picayune New Orleans Hornets shooting guard Eric Gordon said Friday morning it was a mutual decision between him and the franchise to put off trying to get an extension agreement finalized before Wednesday’s deadline. Gordon will become a restricted free agent on July 1, and the Hornets General Manager Dell Demps said they will make a push to re-sign him.``It wasn’t that I turned down anything, it works both ways,’’ Gordon said. ``Yes, I’ll be restricted, but I am just a basketball player right now and the future is unclear. ``All I can do is worry about coming back at this point to try and help the team win games at the end of the year. It’s not the best situation, but it’s also not the worst. As long as I get back playing that will be the thing.’’ New Orleans Times-Picayune Smart move by Demps here; first find out what your client wants then make your offer after the market value is clear. andreusito
He wants to get a max deal on a bad team and in a couple years request a trade. Get paid, then win. That's how it goes.
Dash
Not really a smart move because it doesn't exactly endear Gordon to New Orleans. Plus now there seems to be a feeling among teams that Gordon could potentially be had in free agency despite being a restricted free agent, and there plenty of teams (Nets, Houston, San Antonio, Boston, Dallas, etc) that can and will throw a max contract offer to Gordon. Check my Stats
Idiots, now they are either A) going to have to sign him to a 1 year deal and then he is a UFA next year, or B) give him the max contract anyways (someone will offer it) and him be potentially annoyed at the same time. Warren2ThaG
I would turn down everything from the Hornets if I was him, even big money.
