Sports. No deal is imminent, but the Lakers view Sessions as a candidate who could help their depleted backcourt. The Lakers are without injured guard Steve Blake, and have relied heavily on rookies Andrew Goudelock and Darius Morris to play behind 37-year-old Derek Fisher. The Lakers have an $8.9 million trade exception, acquired from the Dallas Mavericks for Lamar Odom, to absorb salary. Sessions makes $4.3 million this season and has a player option for $4.6 million for the 2012-13 season. Cleveland is interested in stockpiling draft picks in potential deals, sources said. Several teams have inquired about Sessions lately, front-office sources said. Sessions shooting 34 percent and averaging 9.1 points. After two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks, Sessions signed a four year, $16 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves prior to the 2009-10 season. A year later, he was traded to the Cavaliers. He had his best season with Cleveland in 2010-11, averaging 13.3 points, 5.2 assists and 3.2 rebounds a game. The Lakers also worked out veteran NBA guard Morris Peterson several days ago, sources said. As first reported by Hoopsworld.com, the Lakers have discussed the possibility of signing veteran guard Gilbert Arenas, sources said. He’s been working out in Florida, but no one in the Lakers organization has seen him lately to gauge the kind of shape he’s in. Nitro Posted January 30, 2012 Report Share Posted January 30, 2012 Gasol is over 30 years old and on the decline, and MWP is nearly useless at this point and has a bad contract. Why would Cleveland trade an amazing rookie for that kind of deal? Anyway, Sessions would definitely be a nice pickup, although I feel they can use the TPE and maybe a piece or two for a more impactful upgrade than just Sessions, who really is a good backup, not a good starter. Cleveland's Finest Posted January 30, 2012 Report Share Posted January 30, 2012 We should keep Sessions. We have enough draft picks now. It's good to have a young back up PG to compete with Kyrie. Owner Real Deal Posted January 31, 2012 Owner Report Share Posted January 31, 2012 I wouldn't mind picking him up, but we really don't have anything to offer the Cavaliers, player-wise, and all of our picks will be post-lottery.
