Sħãlïq™
Saw it on one other forum: http://i43.tinypic.com/dxbnkl.png There are eight teams with a single player (LAL, TOR, OKC, MIN, DAL, LAC, MIL and MIA). Some are understandable:Ron Artest 'Metta World Peace' is generally undervalued by the model as his contributions are difficult to measure. The Lakers get a bye for keeping the Peace. Perkins is in a similar category for Oklahoma City. 'Cookie' is tenth on the rotation for the Clippers and can be considered a warm body at the moment. Wesley Johnson is young and can still grow for the T'wolves. Norris Cole gets the same pass for the Heat. Lamar is missing the beach obviously and playing way below standard in Dallas. Don’t expect this to continue indefinitely. The last two in this group (Jackson for the Bucks and DeRozan for the Raptors) are indefensible. 'Cpt. Jack' shouldn't be number 2 on the depth chart for a team with playoff hopes at this point in his career. As for DeRozan? If he is your number 1 option in the rotation, you're in serious trouble. Then again, sadly this is an old story for the Raps. Six teams appear with two players on the list: New York: Amare, who I will continue to argue, is miscast totally in the 'Melo iso show and could be decent with a better PG, like Toney Douglas who is probably jobless.Detroit: A rookie (Knight) and yet another warm body (Daye). Cleveland: It could be argued that they need to have Jamison out there to sell. Mychel Thompson falls under the warm body category to me. Houston: A rookie deep in the rotation (Morris) and a player in Scola who seems to be in a precipitous decline. New Jersey: Two bench players on a bad team in Shawnee Williams and Okur who like Scola may be in rapid decline. Orlando: On behalf of all Celtic fans, I’d like to thank the Magic front office for taking Baby off our hands. God bless you and protect you. You’ll need it. Larry Hughes is there collecting a paycheck. The last two teams on this list are just horrible with three and four players in the chart: The 'Cats, my lord, they are a mess. Tyrus Thomas probably needs out of the Queen City. Byron Mullens is another unknown quantity so they might as well play him. Higgins is a rookie deep in the rotation and given the talent drought on this team they should really be playing him more to see if they got anything. My ol' friends the Wizards, have two players in Nick Young and Jordan Crawford who at this point, based on the data, will not ever reach the level expected from a reserve on a decent team. Andray Blatche might reach that level but he should not be drawing more than the NBA minimum. At the end of the lesson, what can be assumed? There are some key reasons why these lovable losers get playing time on these teams. Most are understandable (or at least come with a good story): they’re defensive contributors on good teams, they’re having an off year, they’re losing the battle with Father Time, they’re dealing with injuries, they’re inexperienced rookies or unknown quantities getting their shot at the big time. There’s only a few cases of truly bad management in the bunch. To me, the Raptors, Magic and the Wizards are all guilty of throwing good money after bad and doing it consistently year in and year out. They pay, play and trade for bad players. Where I a fan of these teams I would be very pessimistic about the near future prospects of my team.

DunkinDerozan
Gotta admit, i'm not understanding that graph. How does Derozan make the Raptors lose more then someone like Rasual Butler?
Lkr
Luis Scola, Perkins, Antawn Jamison, and Norris Cole do not deserve to be on this list.

Built Ford Tough
Gotta admit, i'm not understanding that graph. How does Derozan make the Raptors lose more then someone like Rasual Butler? It is because DeRozan actually plays. Butler sucks more but because DeRozan is a focal point of the team, particularly without Bargnani, while Butler is a bit player who gets 10 minutes a night at most, he doesn't have the same kind of impact as DeRozan who is playing 35 minutes a night. When DeRozan has a poor game, it has a much larger impact on the team than if Butler has a poor game. It isn't actually the worst players in the league. It is basically just a list of players who are good enough to be in a teams rotation but have struggled this season. The actual worst players in the league would never be able to get enough playing time to have any sort of impact on something like win shares, which is basically what this chart is about. Ok I get it now. Although Butler has proved he doesn't have to play to make us lose. Edited February 14, 2012 by DemarDerozanDunk
