Dallas @ L.A. Lakers

Recommended Posts

Bad game offensively, defensively, too many turnovers, and just plain ole out of sync. Dallas did a good job keeping it that way, kudos to them.

Just a bad game, at the very least this will give the coaching staff plenty of ammunition for film tomorrow.

This may have been the best defensive game Dirk Nowitzki's ever played. Active hands, on balance, securing rebounds, being in the right place, he played terrific. Add Marion, get Antoine Wright's lack of talent and Josh Howard's flakiness out of the picture, and the Mavs played tough. Impressive win.

Wow and people are thinking of 70 wins? Yeah Yeah I know that this is only one game and no Gasol but still this Laker team w/o Gasol should have beat the Mavs team w/o Howard. A very bad loss they came into this game on cruise control and that is how they ended. What happened to the dominating Bynum?

Dont mean to come here and be an [expletive] but this is Artest, 1-6 shooting, turnovers. I didnt see much of the game, but I guess he did play good defensively. The Lakers need Gasol, he is as important as Kobe. Artest also wont shoot a high percentage with 6 shots, you guys need to give him 12-13.

Kobe wasn't the same as he usually is on offense, and when he's not catching fire or making plays for others, the Lakers won't win games against the top East or West teams.

Gasol wouldn't have made a difference. We still would've lost. Pau only attempts 12-13 shots per game anyways. He doesn't draw enough defensive attention, and Odom (despite being in Dirk's face constantly) couldn't stop Dirk, so there's no way Gasol was going to, having to move away from the rim.

How is 70 wins impossible now? Cleveland started the season 1-2 last year, still won 66 games. Dallas started their 67-win season going 0-4.

I think Kobe is used to being a differen't player now, being a team player, he defers to a player like Gasol and tries to get easy shots, this game he hasnt played in a leader-type roll who creates everything and scores at will.

He actually missed a lot of layups, which is very uncharacteristic of Kobe to begin with. Tons of layups.

And as far as deferring to anyone, Kobe hasn't done that since the first dynasty. Without Gasol, we have to play Odom at the four, and that means we have no post other than Bynum. Odom plays like a two-guard, which is Kobe's position, and it doesn't help when Bynum is missing his three-footers and not getting good position under the rim. No point in having post play...and a team with no post play will not beat Dallas, just as a team with no guard play would have trouble beating any other elite team in the league.
