Flash
Really? Even though Magic hadn't played in a year and Bird could barely walk? IMO its a lot closer than most people think.

Flash
I'm sorry, but a 92 Magic or Stockton does not > Derrick Rose right now. MAYBE Stockton but you honestly think he could stay in front of Derrick Rose? Larry Bird was on his last legs back then..absolutely no shot he can contain Durant or LBJ. Oh, and you really think Charles Barkley can stop LeBron James? The LeBron James we're watching this season? I don't think so. The only real advantages 92 has are with MJ and inside with Ewing and Robinson compared to Dwight and Chandler. Flash
LMAO Really though, tell my what's wrong about what I said? That Magic post-HIV or Stockton would have trouble guarding Derrick Rose the reigning NBA MVP? Or that LeBron at the 4 is a total mismatch against almost anyone? I know 92 is littered with HOF'ers but this team has at least 5 and could possibly end up with 10. You gotta realize that Bird and Magic were a shell of what they once were. Its not like Laettner played. Their big advantage is inside with 2 true 7 footers.

Larry Bird you right past his prime, still a healthy Scottie Pippen about as good as Durant, Pippen was a good defender and knew how to keep the ball moving for his teammates. No one is stopping any one 1 on 1 in this game, going to be about team D, give me Barkley at PF easy. LMFAO @ Magic in 92, post HIV, not having played basketball in a year IIRC being better than the current NBA's reigning MVP. I hate Derrick Rose but that's a joke. Flash
LeBron has 20 lbs on Barkley. You think Barkley is quick enough to keep up with LBJ on the perimeter? LBJ could possibly back him down as well with that height/weight advantage.

Hayes1
Barkley( Was the MVP at the time.), Ewing, Malone, and David Robinson...four of the most complete big men in NBA history. We have Magic and John Stockton, the two greatest PGs of all time. Larry Bird, one of the best all around players of all time and was just as good at shooting as Lebron is athletic, Larry Bird was at the end of his rope at the time due to back issues but still could shoot lights out even though the Dream Team didn't need him. By the way Chris Mullin and Larry Bird would consistently drop 3 balls on them, I dare you to leave one of these players open! Pippen, who was the FIRST Lebron, and is actually better defensively, Clyde Drexler extraordinary leaping ability, defense and effortless swoops to the basket,.... and JORDAN... not even going to go there. All were just as potent offensively as they were defensively. Basketball was harder to play back in these guys' day. The NBA has changed recently to make it easier to score and harder to be as potent defensively because more numbers on the scoreboard equals more revenue. Nobody asked who were the more athletic team, because the 2012 team would edge them on that...slightly, but the DREAM TEAM is the greatest sports team ever assembled. It features the ORIGINAL players of who these 2012 players are trying to emulate. All of the 92 teams members were fundamentally sound and athletic, not to mention they all had high basketball IQs. The 92 team would be significantly better. I'm not saying they would blow out the 2012 team...even though they possibly could, but the difference would be noticeable. Flash
Lol so you're just going to disregard today's NBA player? Who gives a [expletive] if they were "trying to emulate" the guys on the Dream Team? This team has Derrick Rose, who is the only point guard that quick and explosive off the dribble in league history. Kobe Bryant's not so bad and oh yeah, Dwyane Wade who's arguably the third best SG ever comes off the bench for this team along with CP3 who has a similar skillset to Stockton but he's never had someone like Malone to play with until Blake came along . Durant and LBJ are matchup nightmares and yeah while Pippen was a great defender he can only guard one of them. If you move Durant to the 4, at 6'11 he'd shoot right over Chuck and his quickness would be too much. Stop acting like today's players can't stack up to the guys in the 80's and 90's. That logic is absurd. This 2012 is loaded with talent and everyone minus Kobe is in their primes. The 92 team couldn't say that. And funny you mention Chris Mullin, listening to the BS report he made it sound like the Dream Team would have no shot against this years team. You're going off of reputation of the 92 team when in reality, Magic had lost a step and hadn't played in a year. Stockton was hurt and wasn't a great defender. There's no way those guys can deal with the quickness of a Rose/Paul. Not only that but Ewing and Robinson were at the very beginning of their primes and neither was probably as good as Dwight is right now. There's absolutely no way you can say the Dream Team and its not even close.

Flash
The reasons you gave have almost nothing to do with them playing basketball against this 2012 team and are pretty much based off of nostalgia. You say Barkley (MVP at the time) uhh, I'm pretty sure this year's team is going to have the MVP on it as well. Stop acting like Magic was in his prime in 92. He hadn't played basketball in a year! He's not going to be able to stay with Rose or Paul they're just too quick. Its like you're just disregarding today's NBA players. Obviously the 92 team is going to have the better resume but you can't go by that. Edited February 26, 2012 by Flash

Hayes1
What I mean by Barkley being MVP at the time meaning he got MVP over MJ, very hard to do at that time since MJ was MVP twice in a row before and won the championship that year and Barkley was coming off a great season that year. Meaning you don't have no one to guard him at that point, game over. And Wade third best of all time? Don't get me wrong wade is my third fav player in the NBA but LMAO guess you never heard of Maravich, West, Gervin, Miller, Drexler, Monroe, Allen, Dumars. Edit: And since you wanna bring up age with Magic/Rose(Magic still was very effective) then Im going to bring it up with Michael/Kobe. Now I'm BIG Kobe fan but Michael will torch Kobe, and it's not even funny. Edited February 26, 2012 by Hayes1
