Need4Sheed
Think one of the main issues is Activity. Surprised how dead it is here compared to when I used to be on here. Probably about 30% of that activity now then during those years.
Flash
I'm just spitballing here, but what would happen if we allowed NSFW? So long as it stayed in the lounge and the thread had a NSFW tag placed on it. I'm just sayin though..

Flash
Don't see it increasing activity. Not even worth the troubles. Maybe not, but I feel like we should consider allowing it but there obviously need to be some regulations on it. Its also a nice pitch for recruiting people. Good basketball discussion AND nsfw? Sign me up.

Flash
Maybe. But the board just has an uptight feel to it lately IMO and I feel like I'm not the only one who feels this way. I feel like NSFW stuff can't hurt to be honest. Edited March 7, 2012 by Flash
Lkr
nsfw goes beyond nudity/porn. there is stuff that i feel uncomfortable posting on here because i don't know where you guys are browsing all the time . activity has been down, but most of us have a lot of other shit going on compared to years ago
NomarFachix
yeah NSFW is a bad idea

NomarFachix
...wtf is nsfw? Not safe for work.. a lot of porn, graphic/gore images, etc etc.. basically anything you'd get fired for looking at while you're at work, lol
Flash
By NSFW I was thinking more along the lines of porn.
Lkr
is sharing a link to a porn video really going to increase activity?
Flash
is sharing a link to a porn video really going to increase activity? It was more a general point of why should we not be able to see tits?
DunkinDerozan
Lol yeah I don't see how posting porn would increase activity? When someone wants to watch porn, they go on a porn site, not a basketball forum.
Check my Stats
I think a trade proposal forum could be pretty fun/cool. People post hypothetical trades (feasible hopefully) and people give their thoughts on it. Basically an indirect way for people to evaluate players, and their value. I thought of this from the hockey forum HFBoards that has a trade rumors and proposals forum. Here is a copy of the rules and some examples can be found in that forum too: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=6654 Iunno, I think it might be a decent way to boost activity if people got behind it. For example I could go in there right now if we had one and post a Proposal entitled Lakers-Rockets and say Kevin Martin+Dalembert for Pau Gasol and get everyone's thoughts on that deal, talk about why it is a good or shit deal, etc, and we could all argue why Kevin Martin is garbage. People can also post "value of" topics, where they post the players name and people say what they are worth in a trade. Didn't know where to post this so I stuck it here. I actually created the forum on TLN back in the summer of 2008. http://lakernation.com/forums/index.php?/forum/6-trade-rumors-ideas-and-free-agency-discussion Interesting idea to bring it back, especially now.
DunkinDerozan
On the topic of gaining more activity on the site, theres one thing I noticed a bit. Not that its really a big deal, but I have noticed the "home" page for OTR has been the same since I joined. Last thing posted on it was January 9th. I think if the Home Page is never going to be changed, maybe it should just be removed or something? When someone comes on a site and sees the most recent thing posted was three months ago, they probably don't bother checking out the forums. Just a little thing I thought i'd throw out there.

Owner Real Deal Posted March 11, 2012 Owner Report Share Posted March 11, 2012 The writers were going to be asked to provide content to the homepage, but if you haven't noticed, I've already cut about six of them since putting the team up, and added 2-3 others. The current guys are not at fault, and really, I understand that people are busy. If I really wanted to, I could just write every day...but that has been something I've wanted to avoid doing for years. I never, ever thought it was a good look for me to have the most posts on OTR, to run all of the games, to write all of the articles, etc. I'm almost to the point where I'm going to just drop Word Press altogether, and create a bridge from the home page to the forums WITHOUT the blog. Basically, use a CMS that I can somehow integrate with the forums (don't know of a great one yet). I don't know, at this point.

Owner Real Deal Posted March 12, 2012 Owner Report Share Posted March 12, 2012 Couldn't you just post the most recent article(s) written by our writers on the home page?Sure, but there aren't enough articles for that. The home page needs to be for current news articles...meaning, everything from signings and trades, to power rankings and MVP watches. To me, there's no point in a home page if we don't have that. There are a lot of sites I won't bother naming who have failed trying that same thing. I would rather you guys write lengthy articles about whatever comes to mind, rather than spend all of your time writing about things like Darius Morris being sent to the D-Fenders, Andre Miller losing his starting job in Portland, etc.
