KONY 2012

Recommended Posts

So, again.. who, specifically, are you referring to?

I'm saying IF people are going to start donating their money, they should try and see where there money is really going.

It's not a very good comparable, but there are a lot of people that won't buy diamonds because they think they are "blood diamonds". People who donate their money to this organization are giving their money to the Ugandan army which has a history of terrible crimes, just like Kony.

I just think people are buying into catching this guy, the video is well made and really drives home the point that KONY is a douche. To the typical guy like me, I just look at what the video is telling me and I catch on..I personally would never donate my money no matter how heart breaking the cause is because you never know where the money actually goes. I just took it as a video explaining this guys idea to capture KONY. I was not really tempted to do research on how to prove these guys wrong.

The video is well made, and I think it's a great cause. Anyone who tries to spread positivity and make a difference in the World gets my support.

Yes, catching a terrible person is a great cause, it really is. However, how it is being done and why it's being done are too major questions as well.

I don't see a problem with either. The guy is trying to raise awareness...we need more people who dedicate their time to improving the World.

You strike me as the type of person who goes against the mainstream just to garner attention. I will not argue with you because you are a waste of my time.

I knew I'd come into this topic, and good 'ole ECN would be at it arguing with everyone about this.

Its more of an exposure video. I didn't know who Kony was, sure these thousands of people that watched the video didn't know either. Once Americans know who the bad guy is, they all get on board to capture him. No sense in going after a guy that no one really knows about. I am sure we capture people all the time but we just look the other way because we don't know what exactly the person did.

Yeah...I'm not donating anything to the guy's site, and I didn't say anything about that, but I think it's great to expose people to things. ECN is fairly knowledgeable when it comes to world events, that I will say, but what he must understand is the ignorance from people, especially in the U.S. so many have no idea this is going on world wide and that with people's support we can make a difference.

This is a great thing, but no difference will be made because of it. I support it but I also look at it from a realistic point of view.

I have heard that Kony hasn't even been active since 2006, don't know if that is true or not. ECN is in the right in this thread though

I would never disagree with this statement. "If you donate without researching where your money is going, you're gullible" is different from "you're so gullible". That's all.

30 posts later finally we can say that, good. And please don't start with me that it was actually like 8 posts not 30...

Where'd you get that from ? Just curious because this is per the NYT:

"In the spring of 2010, apparently desperate for new conscripts, Mr. Kony’s forces killed hundreds of villagers in the Congolese jungle and kidnapped hundreds more, according to witnesses interviewed at the time."

He's probably talking abut him not being active in Uganda since 2006. People aren't even 100% sure if he's alive or dead.

I wasn't sure if it was true or not, but my friend brought it up. What he said falls in line with what ECN is saying
