Viral
Agent: Okur Leaning Towards Opting Out Jun 29, 2009 2:14 AM EST Mehmet Okur is "leaning toward opting out" of his contract with the Jazz and could make the decision official as soon as Monday, Okur's agent, Marc Fleisher, said on Sunday. Okur would be opting out of $9 million he is due to make this season in order to become a free agent. The Jazz face opt-out decisions ahead of a Tuesday deadline from Carlos Boozer, Kyle Korver and Okur. All indications Sunday continued to be that Boozer and Okur would opt out while Korver would not. "I think he's looking to do what will make sense going forward for him," Fleisher said of Okur, "and whether that's with the Jazz or not, it's undecided at this point. We're going to look at all the options before he makes his decision." http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/60159/20090629/agent_okur_leaning_towards_opting_out/
Owner Real Deal Posted June 29, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted June 29, 2009 Utah is in an ugly situation, with Boozer and Okur planning on opting out, and Millsap wanting $10 million a year. Thing is, if the Jazz reload with the same guys, they are going to be the same team they have been for a few years now: that borderline contender, the one you know CAN take the best West team to seven games, but probably won't. Viral
That's why sometimes you just gotta let those guys fly and find new pieces. Not going to win a title with those players, so you might as well look elsewhere.
