Built Ford Tough
Ken Berger @KBergCBS #Magic officials have been told that Dwight Howard informed teammates he won't opt out of contract in July, league source tell @CBSSports. Sam Amick @sam_amickAs first reported by WFTV in Orlando, sources confirm Dwight Howard told teammates & confidantes he will play final option year of contract Epic troll job by Howard. Owner Real Deal Posted March 14, 2012 Owner Report Share Posted March 14, 2012 He wants Orlando to be the bad guy in this situation. After his comments from the other night, we all know Dwight is long gone, so having Orlando deal him AFTER he says something like this...well, it makes sense for Howard. Built Ford Tough
Magic want it in writing. Ken Berger @KBergCBSThis is the commitment -- in writing -- the Magic apparently need to suspend efforts to trade Howard prior to Thursday's 3 p.m. ET deadline. Ken Berger @KBergCBS Whether Howard and his agent, Dan Fegan, will agree to surrender their leverage in writing and call off the sweepstakes remains to be seen. Built Ford Tough
Lol. Really sounds like nobody knows whats going on: Ken Berger @KBergCBS Players who came out of meeting called by Howard today in San Antonio have given conflicting accounts about what Howard said, sources say. Ken Berger @KBergCBS Some came away thinking Howard said he was “all in” for the rest of the season, while others thought he meant next season, sources say. Ken Berger @KBergCBS However, a person briefed on the conversation told @CBSSports that Howard told a Magic official today he would sign the ETO waiver. Ken Berger @KBergCBS The ETO waiver -- meaning Howard wouldn't opt out of his deal for next season -- is in Howard's possession in San Antonio, the person said. Ken Berger @KBergCBS Howard's agent, Dan Fegan, who has not responded to requests for comment, also has to sign the ETO waiver for it to be valid. Ken Berger @KBergCBS Howard, however, has not yet returned the document signed, which the Magic need to protect their interests, the person said. Can't wait for this shit to be over and done with, one way or another.
Teletopez
I'm just waiting... Woj said he indicated he's all in for the rest of this season, and others are saying it's next season too. And then there's the confirmation in writing, which Fegan has to sign as well. A little over 22 hours...

Built Ford Tough
How awesome would it be if Howard signed the papers, opted in for next year and then Orlando turned around and traded him to some terrible team like Charlotte or New Orleans? I'm sure Fegan will want some sort of assurance that Howard won't be dealt if he does opt in, though, or at the very least an assurance that he won't be traded to a team unless he wants to go there. Owner Real Deal Posted March 14, 2012 Owner Report Share Posted March 14, 2012 If Howard opts-in, I'd still trade him...but let's just say he doesn't. Orlando should just pick up the phones and deal him to any team offering the best deal, simple as that. Like Golden State, there will be a few teams that would be willing to take him on, regardless of his decision to become a free agent over the summer. Owner Real Deal Posted March 14, 2012 Owner Report Share Posted March 14, 2012 Now they are saying that Howard never told anyone he was considering "opting in" and only said he was "all-in" for this season. LOL.
Built Ford Tough
Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA Three Magic players tell Y! Sports (2 to @SpearsNBAYahoo) and one to me that Dwight Howard did not tell them he was opting in for next year. Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA Said one Magic player on Howard meeting: "Next year was not even mentioned in meeting...He told us he was "all-in" for this season." Marc J. Spears @SpearsNBAYahoo Two Magic players said DH told players at shootaround to keeping doing jobs, be accountable and they have a chance to win. Nothing on opt-in ChrisMannixSI: Magic continuing to explore Dwight Howard deals, league sources tell SI. No indication anything DH has said today changing that. Gotta love Twitter. So much more incorrect shit gets put out there now. Nobody ever knows what to believe anymore.

Built Ford Tough
Josh Robbins @JoshuaBRobbins Yep! RT @magicbasketball: It doesn't matter what he told his teammates, it matters what he told management. Done pending paperwork. Alex Kennedy @AlexKennedyNBARegardless of what Dwight Howard said during meeting with teammates, source close to Howard said he informed Alex Martins that he'll opt-in. Alex Kennedy @AlexKennedyNBA Dwight Howard has also told several friends and family members that will opt-in to the final year of his contract, according to sources. So, basically, nobody knows what the hell is going on.

At least three other reporters had the same report. Regardless of what Dwight said, different sources had conflicting reports, probably because of a misunderstanding. Not Alex's fault. We still don't know whether Dwight told the front office that he isn't opting out. Woj isn't always correct either. Built Ford Tough
I blame Twitter for this. Everybody is in a mad rush to be the first person to "break" a story and will Tweet the first thing they hear without making sure that it is accurate. How often did we hear stuff like this whole Howard opting in/not opting in situation before the invention of Twitter? It makes information a lot more accessible, but it also results in a lot more incorrect reports than before.

Built Ford Tough
Woj now reporting that Howard told teammates and front offic personnel that he is planning on opting-ing: Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA After broader team meeting today, Dwight Howard had lunch with 3 teammates and told them he planned to opt-in for '12-13 season, source says Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA Howard called Magic CEO while sitting at table and informed him of intentions, source says. Still, Magic waiting for him to sign papers now. However, he also says many people believe he is second-guessing his decision and Orlando is still discussing with other teams: Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA Several sources already believe he's second-guessing that incredible change of heart, and Magic still on phones talking trades with teams. So really, this situation isn't any clearer now than it was 3 hours ago.
