(SB Nation, Tom Ziller) Don Nelson, the pioneering head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors, told a reporter on Wednesday that he has been informed that he'll be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a part of the 2012 class. The formal announcement is expected to come Monday, but Nellie apparently doesn't understand the concept of a news embargo.

Nelson has more wins than NBA coach in history (1,335) and sits at No. 3 in losses (1,063). While Nelson has a career winning percentage of .557, among the seven coaches with at least 1,000 wins, that's the second lowest winning percentage (ahead of Lenny Wilkens' .536).

Did Pitino make it too? Because if not, that's a joke.

Reggie Miller, Don Nelson, Ralph Sampson and Jamaal Wilkes head the 2012 Hall of Fame class

Four new members of the Hall of Fame with NBA ties were announced Monday in New Orleans as part of the Class of 2012 bound for Springfield, Mass., and the 1970s and '80s rejoiced. The decades between were celebrated as well, from Wilkes to Sampson to Miller as Nelson touched all over the timeline, while the basketball museum stuck to the recent mandate of addressing the previously overlooked.
