Lkr
Its so hard to pick really.. Id say LeBron James he just a freak... so big and strong.that would make him the most athletic. however when defining the best athlete, what does this matter when he is not the biggest, fastest, or strongest athlete? at the moment, no one compares to Lionel Messi. no one in the MLB, NBA, NFL, etc matches up to his greatness. Flash
In terms of overall athletic ability..LeBron or Usain Bolt. In terms of "greatness" defined by winning and dominating a sport?? Tiger Woods followed by Usain Bolt.

SRV
How do you determine who is a good athlete when judging them across all sports? You would think Roger Federer has nothing on Derrick Rose in terms of athletic ability, but he never looks tired and he has won a butt load of majors and dominated tennis for years. Rose is fast as crap and all that, but he does not dominate the NBA. Messi dominates soccer, but is he really good enough to do anything in another sport?
