Where does LA go from here?

Recommended Posts

Get younger.

Add depth, pretty much at every position, team relies HEAVILY on Kobe and Bynum.

I think the biggest mistake the Lakers made was by not giving Brian Shaw the head coaching position, he definitely would've been a better fit for the team.

The problem isnt with Mike Brown, and it's unfair that he gets criticized so much. I have nothing against him. Unless Phil plans on coming back there is no need to make a coaching change.

The problem with this team starts with Pau and Bynum. One plays like a little [expletive] and the other is just immature and just doesn't give a shit. The inconsistencies with those two just killed us. If we need to package them both for Dwight Howard then do it. In retrospect I regret the Lakers not pulling the trigger on that trade.

As a whole trade everyone and anyone not named Kobe. Get Dwight, try to upgrade at point (I'm not sold on Sessions being a starter on a contender), and get some talent on the bench. Jordan Hill is the only respectable bench player on the entire roster.

Andrew Bynum was asked about his future with the Lakers during the postgame interview: "It really doesn't matter to me. I'll play anywhere."

It is hilarious that everyone says that Pau and Bynum have all these major faults, like they act this way for no reason. There is this other guy on the team who makes one feel like shit every time he makes a mistake (despite the fact he makes plenty himself) and the other guy has a shit attitude because he watches a 34 year old chuck contested 20 footers every time down the floor when he is a more efficient scorer himself.

I'm not going to say that Kobe played perfect post season basketball because he didn't by any means. He had to become a volume shooter and for that you accredit the mediocre play for the Lakers across the board. There wasn't one guy on the team who picked up the scoring slack. Pau was disengaged at times and just played hesitant and scared, and Bynum was just disinterested. These two guys were supposed to dominant opposing frontcourts, but they came no where close to doing that.

There were certain occasions where Kobe made crucial mistakes (most notably the last 2 minutes of game 4) or forced the issue on offense. But you cant blame him when the offense becomes stagnant and the ball finds its way back to him more than often. With that said, you cant point a finger at Kobe for lack of effort. He came out every night and played like he actually wanted to win, and I couldn't say the same about Pau or Bynum. Kobe has reason to put those two on blast, they deserve it 100%.

Bynum was removed from the equation when Perkins started to front him, and that was after he was pushing Bynum out of his spot. Kobe isn't going to get the ball to Drew when he's trying to post up 12 feet away from the rim, and our PG's can't throw a pass over Perk and Ibaka, to Bynum, because he's not athletic enough (or skilled enough) to work over the front. Ask Houston fans what it did to Yao Ming.

I can't recall just how many bad shots Drew got up from that distance, and how many times he was blocked doing it.

If this dude thinks he's going to make it on another team, as a primary option...well, I can't wait to watch. Teams will eat him alive, and his FG% will plummet.

Agree with this. Lakers need to add more depth. Pretty much the whole bench is a joke. Trade Pau and/or Bynum for some young players and solid depth. Kobe is not getting any younger and if the Lakers want to win another championship before he retires, they are going to need some more talent around him that don't have attitude/competitiveness issues. Also, not sure if Sessions can be a starting PG on a championship team. I think he's be suited well as 6th man or something. And the guys like Barnes, Blake, Ebanks, etc. are useless. They shouldn't have a problem getting some decent players in FA.

The funny part about all of this above is, the one guy that should know all about this (Shaq) is the one blaming the big men for their play.

It was Shaq who actually fought with Kobe, won three consecutive rings with him, was a big man while Kobe was dominating the ball just as much as he was...and, yet, Shaq knows what's going on in Los Angeles.

Is there any chance of Kobe being traded? I was thinking, what if he was traded to Philly to end his career where he started?

Evan Turner, Thad Young and picks for Kobe?

no but we can do Pau for Iggy and drink malt after

That'd be a pretty nice move actually...maybe if LA could get LaVoy Allen or Elton Brand also because they still need a big guy. Jordan Hill was pretty good for them, but they can't have him starting.

Iggy could be like the Pippen Kobe never had, and he'd be good for their defense.

Are they for sure going to stick with Sessions and try to get Odom?
