Knicks will match, and Houston will be glad they did in the long run I feel. Rockets really shot themselves in the foot with the Lowry deal. They better hope Toronto makes the playoffs next year, cuz if we don't, that pick is going to be right near that 14 spot Houston picks almost every year lol.

I'm not even sure what Houston is doing anymore. Their first attempt at Dwight seemed reasonable, sending picks and being able to keep a few key players...but now, the rumors that they are willing to trade basically the entire team, take on three bad contracts, AND give this amount of money to Lin and/or Asik...it strikes me as desperate.

If you're going to go all in, you should be sure you're building a contender. If they land Dwight, they won't contend, and they may lose him in the summer. If they don't land him, keep what they have, amnesty Scola (they did), and pick up Lin and/or Asik, they aren't improving THAT much.

Assuming the end game is Lin, Asik and rookies...then deal the rookies for a two-guard, and meanwhile, find a team that wants to take Kevin Martin off your hands for a draft pick, so you can get out from underneath that $13 million this season. What if the Thunder really are looking to deal Harden or Ibaka? The interest was there for Beal, so you'd have to assume they thought about a Harden/Beal trade. Go after Harden with the rookies, then maybe look into the FA pool to fill out the rest of the roster.

3 years, $25M. Horrible. I'd have rather grabbed Augustin.

$1M per career start. Let the Rockets have him. Grab one of the Bulls castoffs.

I disagree, if we are going all in, match, we are rich anyways.

All of this is high comedy, but does leave no doubt that Knicks will take every bit of three days to match, once offer sheet is in hand.

Rockets FedExed offer sheet to Knicks offices in NY, but league said GM Glen Grunwald must receive it himself. Clock to match at standstill.

Rockets had a courier knocking on doors at hotel, call room. Could not get someone to accept offer sheet yesterday.

Rockets so far unable to hand deliver Lin offer sheet. Knicks refused to accept at team hotel. Glen Grunwald not at practice yest, gm today.

Idk how much sarcasm is in that but the whole team is signed for 3 years anyway...

My point is that you don't run a successful franchise in a system with a cap by overpaying anyone and everyone. Yeah, Dolan may have deep pockets, but that doesn't mean signing Lin to this huge contract based on one sensational month is a smart decision. And if memory serves me correctly, once you pass a certain point in the luxory tax, you lose the full MLE and only have the mini MLE left, which will basically cripple this franchise because they are still another MLE level player or two away from being a serious contender.

Jeremy Lin begins workouts

Updated: September 18, 2012, 6:00 PM ET

HOUSTON -- Jeremy Lin is finally getting his own bed. The 6-foot-3 point guard, who became an international phenomenon during one dazzling month with the Knicks last season, went through his first workout with the Houston Rockets on Tuesday. Naturally, he drew a horde of media to the Toyota Center, evidence that Linsanity has plenty of life left in it.

"I don't know if I'm the face of the franchise just yet," Lin said. "I think we're a young team and we're all going to buy in. The thing about us is it's not going to be any one person that's going to carry us to where we want to go, it's going to be everybody. I think it's so early on, I'm just trying to get to know the guys."

Lin was waived by the Rockets last December, then picked up by the Knicks. He was hesitant to buy a home and slept on teammate Landry Fields' couch the night before his breakout game against New Jersey on Feb. 4. Lin signed a three-year, $25 million contract with Houston over the summer. He arrived on Monday -- but first asked teammate Chandler Parsons if he could "crash" on his couch until he bought furniture. He finally feels secure enough to settle down.

"I've got to get that bed in there, so I can sleep well tonight," Lin said. The Rockets acquired Lin over the summer by outmaneuvering the Knicks in free agency.

Yessssssss! I told my girl I called this, somewhat, back in July. I wasn't sure if they would include Motiejunas in the deal, but the main thing we talked about was Harden for Lamb, to save OKC money.

I figured maybe this would happen if February, if there was a chance of it going down at all...but whatever, lol.
