http://i.imgur.com/iOzlr.png

The Clippers rallied late in the 4th quarter to tie the game, but fell short and lost 106-104 in Las Vegas on Saturday. Eric Bledsoe posted 25 points (incl. a reverse layup with 3.1 ticks left that tied it.), eight rebounds and five steals while DeAndre Jordan scored 14. The Clippers host the Heat on Thursday.

Preseason - UTA @ LAC (10/18/12)

http://i.imgur.com/S2OMy.png

Bledsoe showed again he's got some sick hops with a reverse jam in the Clippers’ 96-94 preseason win over the Jazz on Wednesday night. Bledsoe had 11 points off the bench for the Clippers (2-2) in their fourth preseason game, and first in California, let alone their first in their own building.

DeAndre Jordan (11 points, 16 rebounds) posted a double-double. Chris Paul dished out 9 assists and Jamal Crawford chipped in with 18 points.

Bledsoe Hurts Winless Lakers

http://i.imgur.com/Yw16g.png

Eric Bledsoe did a good job of playing the role of CP3: the former Kentucky standout just missed on a triple-double. Bledose had game-highs of 22 pts, 11 dimes (including this over-the-shoulder no-look beauty to Willie Green) along with game-high 9 steals (43 mins)! I think he just needs to slow it down when handling the ball. He seems to be out of control at times, which leads to TOs. The Clippers could use his energy on D, and rebounding though.

"Just having fun," Bledsoe said, recalling his only triple-double came in high-school. "I thought I was going to be a little winded, but I wasn't."

Bledsoe Shines In Season Opener

http://i.imgur.com/XLyjt.png

Eric Bledsoe had 13 pts (5-8 FG shooting), along with 4 rebs and 4 dimes off-the-bench. The 6-1 guard played 17 minutes, compared to Willie Green's almost 30 mins. I thought it should've been the other way around. Green went 2-7 (FG M-A) in his first regular season start for LAC. Nothing against Willie, I just think coach Del Negro should give Bledsoe more PT in the future. Here's a Bledsoe-Green stat comparison (Game 1):

Clippers' X factor: Eric Bledsoe

LOS ANGELES – The most exciting point guard in Los Angeles will start Friday’s Lakers-Clippers game on the bench. And I’m not talking about Steve Nash and his leg contusion. I’m talking about Eric Bledsoe, the Clippers’ backup point guard. In a city where stars are often made via Twitter trends and must-see YouTube clips, Bledsoe is on his way to becoming a household name. Chris Paul, who had a front row seat for Bledsoe’s 13 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds in 17 minutes of run in the Clippers’ home opener on Wednesday, chalks it up to confidence.

“To see how much Bled has grown,” Paul said. “To see where his confidence went just from last year to this year, he knows nobody can mess with him . . . .”

The Clippers knew they had something special when they acquired Bledsoe's draft rights from Oklahoma City in 2010. When the New Orleans Hornets engaged the Clippers in trade talks for Paul last year, Bledsoe’s name was high on the Hornets’ wish list but then-Clippers general manager Neil Olshey viewed his inclusion as a deal-breaker.

SMH, I don't think it could get more obvious that you're soliciting rep.

I'm not. Apparently someone likes and appreciates my hard work ethic.

One other thought -- I bust my ass, dedicate myself, and sometimes take 2-3 hours to put together a Star Tracker better than the ones here, for example:

...and all you notice, all you think about, is a meaningless rep...? SMH.

I love how you call rep "meaningless" when you solicit it from members. I would share names but don't feel like that'd be appropriate.

I don't even know what that screenshot is supposed to mean. I've never in my life seen people do what you're doing. NBA.com and ESPN.com/nba have all this information and more, so why somebody would find this useful is beyond me.

P.S. If this takes you 2-3 hours, stop doing it. It's not worth wasting that much time for something so insignificant.

Yes, I do call rep "meaningless" 'cause at that point it's what it is.

Also, I re-post these on other message boards. Any promotional effort is not meaningless.

Last but not least, I don't understand why someone would follow female soccer. Yet I don't be like: "Stop doing it. It's not worth wasting that much time for something so insignificant."

Game 4: CLE @ LAC 108:101 (2-2)

http://i46.tinypic.com/e7o6qb.jpg

Playing a season-high 26 minutes, reserve PQ Eric Bledsoe had 11 pts, 5 rebs, 5 ast.

had a huge miscomunication mistake at the game's very end. Bledsoe and DJ left Kyrie Irving unguarded which pretty much cost LAC the W, and the Clippers' comeback attempt came short. Anyway, here's a good read on the former Kentucky standout and his effort against the Cavs:

BLEDSOE PROVIDES SECOND-HALF ENERGY BOOST

It hardly shows up in the box score, considering Cleveland’s 14 3-point baskets and 18 offensive rebounds, but the Clippers’ scrambling comeback attempt in the final quarter was predicated on their defensive effort. And reserve point guard Eric Bledsoe, who was summoned from the bench for more than 17 second-half minutes, helped spur the rediscovered energy.

After a somewhat lackluster first half, Bledsoe came on to play his usual disruptive defense on the ball and initiate some easy offense for the Clippers. He finished the game with 11 points, four steals, five assists and five rebounds in a season-high 26 minutes.

“I did come in there and bring energy, but my teammates were right behind me,” Bledsoe said. “When I came down and dug [for steals] my bigs were right behind me, so a lot of credit goes to my teammates. It’s just the beginning of the season. I think we need a couple of losses like this to change everyone’s perspective on this team. You can have all the talent in the world, but if you don’t bring it every night then nothing matters,” Bledsoe added.

Sports Illustrated: Eric Bledsoe needs more playing time

Every minute that Willie Green steals from Bledsoe is a crime against basketball itself, one that should be met with a hearing and sentencing in some unforgiving hardwood tribunal. But the justice system is nothing if not slow-moving; Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro thus far has gone unpunished, and he continues to slot Green as his starting shooting guard, awarding him ample playing time.

Green, despite all his flaws, is an NBA player. His skills warrant a roster spot and a handful of minutes in lineups that can benefit from his mid- and long-range shooting while dealing with all the other quirks in his game. But Bledsoe’s athleticism makes him a multi-positional wonder capable of defending expertly on the ball, accelerating through the core of opposing defenses and bolting to loose balls and backdoor scoring opportunities. He may not be the easiest player to incorporate into traditional offenses, but Bledsoe does so much in so many different ways that it’s a wonder Del Negro has been able to keep him off the floor as much as he has.

Yet there Bledsoe sits, logging just 18 minutes per game to Green’s 19.8, with added rotational pressure on the way with Chauncey Billups and Grant Hill close to returning. If Del Negro doesn’t get a clearer idea of Bledsoe’s on-court virtues soon, a valuable Clipper could wind up living on whatever tiny bits of playing time trickle down through the cracks of the roster.

Eric the Amazing

Here’s something you might not know: Eric Bledsoe is killing in pick-and-rolls this year. It’s actually a big part of his game. On a per minute basis, Bledsoe uses almost as many pick-and-roll possessions as James Harden and he scores better than the likes of Tony Parker, Mike Conley and Rajon Rondo (per Synergy). Being the NBA’s weirdest player doesn’t stop Bledsoe from excelling at some of the more typical tasks. His game is full of happy surprises.

But it’s true, there’s something about Eric Bledsoe that just doesn’t look right.

As an athlete, Bledsoe’s combination of lateral quickness, power, speed and improvisational grace sets him well apart even in the NBA. But his body seems oddly misshapen. It’s his arms, mostly. They don’t belong; as though Bledsoe stole them from a much taller man, or some parts were mixed up in the factory. In fact Bledsoe’s wingspan exceeds his height by more than seven inches. That’s the same discrepancy as ol’ cartoon arms himself, Kevin Durant … except Durant is almost a foot taller.

This is worth mentioning because we tend judge the skill of a basketball player by the things he does with his hands — the fine motor skills of the NBA are controlled dribbling, accurate shooting, the deft pass. That Bledsoe’s hands are affixed to arms that appear generally unwieldy gives even his most delicate moves a sense of awkwardness. They contribute to the unfairly enduring perception that Bledsoe is more track athlete than basketball player, that he can’t, say, run the pick-and-roll.

Bledsoe and the bench:

Before the game, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said Eric Bledsoe was probably the most underrated played in the league.

“It’s like nobody knows who he is,” Popovich told reporters before the game. “But he’s a hell of a weapon.”

Popovich and the Spurs got a good look at what a weapon Bledsoe can be on Monday, as he was all over the court, scoring 9 points, grabbing 5 rebounds and getting 2 steals. The bench again was huge for the Clippers, who fell behind by 10 points in the first quarter with the starters in the game but went into the half with a five-point lead after outscoring the Spurs 29-14 in the second quarter thanks a 19-2 run.

“We got off to a bad start, but our bench is not your typical bench,” Paul said. “They got the lead for us.”

Game 19: PHX @ LAC 99:117 (13-6, 1st Pacific)

(...) Next came Bledsoe’s burst. Thirteen seconds after Crawford’s seventh point of the period, the jitterbug guard swiped an errant pass by Michael Beasley and turned it into a right-handed dunk going the other direction, leading to a Phoenix timeout.

“He’s a terror,” Crawford said of Bledsoe. “Honestly, if I’m a point guard I’d hate to bring the ball up against him because even if you beat him, he’s so athletic and so strong he can recover.”

Bledsoe nabbed another steal on the Suns’ next possession, digging the ball out from Jermaine O’Neal and Crawford found Odom for a 4-foot bank shot 12 seconds later. Bledsoe would score eight points in the quarter with four assists. (...)

The former Kentucky standout was also mainly responsible for a 21-4 blitz over the final 9:05 to turn a tight game into a 102-83 rout of the visiting Raptors. It's LA's 6th straight win.

Difference Maker: Eric Bledsoe. Three players (Paul, Barnes and Griffin) scored more points than the Clippers’ reserve point guard, but his 13 points and eight rebounds were vital in keeping Charlotte at bay. He capped his 11-point third quarter by flipping in a layup off a miss from Jamal Crawford, appeared to block a shot with his head in the second half, and converted his only 3-pointer from straightaway off a feed by Griffin.

Interesting comparison. Bledsoe seems to be better than Westbwook today, on a per minute basis. He gets more rebounds, blocks, and steals. He gets 2 less points per 48 but he's a significantly more efficient scorer. Bled creates possesions. The steals count for a lot because they deny a shot attempt for one team and gain a high percentage shot attempt for yours:

Player Comps: Eric Bledsoe

One of the ways analysts project a player’s production is through similarity scores; other players of comparable attributes and stats, then integrate that information into the player one is projecting. ClipperBlog has opened up the archives looking for historical comparables to key members of the 2012-13 Los Angeles Clippers team. Today is 2012-13 Eric Bledsoe and 2010-11 Russell Westbrook. This is the second in a series of four.

http://clipperblog.com/wp-content/uploads/bledsoe-westbrook.jpg

(...) Bledsoe, who was shooting 61.6 percent at the rim in his career coming into this season, is now up to 66.7 percent on the year. Westbrook, meanwhile, had a similar improvement in his 2010-11 season.

http://clipperblog.com/wp-content/uploads/bledsoe-westbrook1.jpg

Conceptually, it makes sense that it would take a couple of years for both of these players to develop. Look at the typical attributes you might have commonly heard to describe Young Eric Bledsoe or Young Russell Westbrook (who are both different players from Current Eric Bledsoe and Current Russell Westbrook). They’re all traits that scream, “WAIT FOR DEVELOPMENT!”:

  • Raw
  • Inexperienced
  • Physical

Now factor in the fact that neither Westbrook nor Bledsoe started at point guard in college – you can thank Darren Collison and John Wall, respectively, for that. Then consider that both players left school as underclassmen.

Even with the astonishing ability they bring to the court, those first couple of years were necessary for them to get their confidence. Without that, would Westbrook have been able to completely ruin Roy Hibbert’s December? Could Bledsoe have dethroned Dwyane Wade as the NBA’s best shot-blocking guard in a more appropriate fashion? Now that Bledsoe has the poise and seems to be improving everyday, watch for that Westbrook trajectory to continue.

  • For the first time since the 1974-75 season, when the Buffalo Braves won 11 games in a row, the Clippers (17-6) are on a nine-game winning streak.
  • Their 17 wins in 23 games marks the best start in franchise history.
