Orlando @ L.A. Lakers

Odom crashing the boards hard tonight, I really like what he is doing tonight.

Kobe is just not in the game right now, 3-16, this is one of his worst shooting performances yet. And he is passing up open looks, had one in the corner but decided not to shot it and then shot a contested shot. Phil should consider resting him for a couple minutes.

The Magic live or die by the three.

Dwight was dominant offensively in the first half, but honestly, you cannot expect that from him every night. Beyond that, they've surrounded him with a bunch of jump shooters in Nelson, Lewis, and Carter (who has been terrible this year). I don't know what the hell Barnes does but I don't think he's starting material.

They have nobody to attack the paint, and when their jump shots aren't falling, they're screwed because Dwight is too inconsistent offensively. The Magic are really missing Hedo's play-making ability, and his size. Hedo was the Magic's biggest weapons last year because he made them a nightmare to defend against (mismatches), Vince Carter provides nothing special and is nothing more than a jump shooter at this point of his career. The Hedo-Vince swap has been a failure so far for the Magic, and I'm pretty sure they're missing Courtney Lee's contributions as well.

Orlando went into the offseason, made a bunch of moves, spent money. They have like 10 million committed to Bass/Gortat when they don't even play. I don't understand why they didn't just use that money to resign Hedo.

They have a lot of depth, but beyond that, they have the worst starting 5 of the contending teams. I don't see them getting far this year unless they make a drastic 180 shift in their play. Jump shooting teams, and teams that rely on the 3 don't make it far in the postseason.

Man, we were awesome with Gasol and Odom in there, and Bynum benched. Bynum was out there for the third, and we blew it, ended up being down nine. Gasol, Odom, Kobe, Brown and Farmar seemed to be our best unit on defense, and Bryant was distributing the ball much, MUCH better with them out there (and passing was excellent as well).

Bynum just seems to be a ball-stopper. He holds the ball way too damn long in the post, and you know he won't pass it. Sucks.

Brown and Farmar have come alive the last few games. Odom played a good game, he crashed the boards and gave us a bunch of second chance oppertunities. He really turned the momentum in our favor when we were down 9. Just like most of you guys I was really happy to see Phil bench Bynum for a good part of the second half, he started off good but after he picked up those quick fouls he just wasnt the same. Either way his defense absolutely blows, Dwight absolutly dismantled him in the first half whether it was transition baskets or points off offensive rebounds.

This is as bad of a month that I have seen from Kobe is a long time. I wasnt even aware that he had attemped over 20 shots until the announcers actually pointed it out, and I was absolutely surprised. A good number of his jumpshots fell short, he airballed a teardrop from 5 feet out, and he passed up a couple open looks. He just hasnt been the same player since his injury. It's just uncharacteristic to see him play like this. Here are a few of his games from this month...

Jan 5th vs Houston 9-23 22pts

Jan 6th @ Clippers 10-30 33pts

Jan 8th @ Portland 14-37 32pts

Jan 10th vs. Bucks 4-21 12pts

Jan 18th vs. Orlando 4-19 11pts
